    Police say they're "extremely concerned" for the safety of a missing man from Hull.

    David Ogden was last seen at about midday yesterday.

    He's said to be about 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build with fair hair.

    Police believe he has contacts in Manchester, Scarborough and Sheffield.

    Anyone with information about Mr Ogden's whereabouts is being asked to contact police.

    Students at Birley Academy in Sheffield were sent home today when the school was closed following what turned out to be a hoax call.

    Officers were alerted at 09:00 this morning and the college was evacuated as a precautionary measure

    South Yorkshire police say the person responsible could face a custodial sentence:

    There are fresh calls to open up Sheffield Council's deal with tree replacement contractor Amey for examination.

    MPs on the Local Government Select Committee say members on the scrutiny committee of any local authority should be allowed to see commercial contracts in full.

    Yorkshire Cat rescue say they are "concerned" after the number plates on one of their vans have been stolen.

    The Keighley-based charity says they're now worried that the plates could now be used on vehicles to commit crime.

    Sara Atkinson from Yorkshire Cat Rescue said "It is a huge worry that our charity’s identity would be used for something so sinister,"

    She added "Any penalty notice or parking ticket issued to a car which is illegally using our plates, will be issued to Yorkshire Cat Rescue and we’ll then have to prove that it wasn’t us."

    A woman standing in a queue to use a cash machine in Scarborough is wanted by police following an apparent theft in the town.

    Police are appealing for information to help identify the woman in the CCTV image.

    At about 07.30, the victim, a 74-year-old woman, was using the ATM at the McColls store on Westwood, Scarborough, but there appeared to be a fault with it.

    The woman behind her was then heard to have said "I'm going to be late for work".

    The 74-year-old victim then panicked and left the ATM, believing it hadn't worked.

    But it had and £250 was dispensed as she walked away from the machine.

    The woman behind the victim then went to use the ATM machine, saw the victim's cash and took it and left the store.

    A German Shepherd puppy who is part of a South Yorkshire Police dog breeding programme is about to start her first role in service.

    Skye has been officially assigned to a handler working in the prison service at HMP Lindholme.

    She will work and train alongside prison service dogs to conduct searches, detect illegal substances and keep inmates safe.

    A series of events celebrating the bicentenary of Emily Bronte's birth have been announced.

    The renowned Wuthering Heights author, born 30 July 1818, was the third eldest of the family from West Yorkshire.

    Model and actress Lily Cole has been given a role at the Brontë Parsonage Museum, while events include a new exhibition featuring Maxine Peake.

    The programme is part of a five-year celebration of the Brontes.

    A school in Sheffield was evacuated this morning after what police are describing as a suspicious incident.

    Birley Academy, which has more than 1,000 secondary school age pupils, was evacuated at about 09:40 as a precautionary measure and police are still there.

    The school said that "it may be some time" before staff and pupils are allowed back inside and asked parents not to contact the school.

    It's still unclear exactly what has happened at the school, the Yorkshire Post reported, external that parents said it was "chaos" as they arrived to pick their children up.

    Huddersfield forward Elias Kachunga will be sidelined for up to three months with medial ligament damage.

    The 25-year-old DR Congo striker collided with Watford keeper Heurelho Gomes during last weekend's win at Vicarage Road and was carried off.

    He opened the scoring in the match with his first goal of the season, but will be out for between eight and 12 weeks.

    German-born Kachunga was the club's top scorer last term having joined from Bundesliga side Ingolstadt.

    A Neolithic trackway and platform, external at Lindholme, Doncaster has made it onto a list of the 20 most intriguing places given listed status in 2017, drawn up by Historic England.

    It is a timber construction around 45 metres long which has been preserved in peat for more than 4,500 years and appears to have been used for ritual or community events.

    Exposed by mechanical peat cutting in the 1990s, the Lindholme Neolithic trackway and platform was first identified in 2004 and was investigated archaeologically in 2004-2006.

    Also on the list, the gardens in Skegness where Billy Butlin opened his first holiday camp, a working men's club in Eastbourne, mile markers on a B road in Gloucestershire, and the gravestone of a warhorse in Merseyside.

    Two teenagers in Huddersfield have been left with serious injuries after being stabbed during a fight yesterday - one is still in hospital.

    It happened on Church Lane in the Newsome area of the town at about 18:00 when police say they were called to a fight involving a group of people.

    The two 16-year-olds were left with stab wounds and were taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment - one of them is still there in a stable condition.

    A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident.

    Donors with these groups will be able to walk in and donate at Sheffield Donor Centre in Church Street.

    Inside the landmark Arts Tower in Sheffield, is an icon of design that's rapidly becoming obsolete - one of the last remaining Paternoster lifts in the UK.

    Built in the 1960s, the 38-carriage Paternoster system which has no doors and moves continually without stopping at floor level, has served the building well for over six decades and is still going strong.
