    The organisers of Sheffield's Tramlines Festival say this year's event will seee the biggest line-up yet as it makes the move to Hillsborough Park.

    But the Folk Forest, one of the popular stages held in Endcliffe Park, will no longer be part of the Tramlines ticket.

    A cyclist has been left with a serious head injury after his bike collided with a van near Halifax this morning.

    It happened at about 06:40 when the cyclist was in collision with a red Ford Transit van on Halifax Road in Shelf.

    Anyone who saw what happened is being asked to get in touch with police.

    Money from a task force set up after the closure of a steel plant in the north east will not be used to help workers losing their jobs at a potash mine in North Yorkshire, the government says.

    About 230 jobs are set to be lost when Cleveland Potash switches production to polyhalite at its Boulby mine later this year.

    There were hopes that the remaining SSI task force funding from the closure of the Redcar steel plant could be used to help Boulby mine workers, but the government has rejected the idea.

    Local MPs have branded the decision as "disappointing".

    Education officials working on the collapse of an academy chain in Yorkshire have announced new organisations to run all but two of the schools.

    Wakefield City Academies Trust walked away from 21 schools in West and South Yorkshire last summer.

    New sponsors have been confirmed for 19 of them.

    The trusts taking over the remaining two - both in South Yorkshire - will be announced soon.

    An elderly man was followed back to his house and robbed yesterday morning in Bradford.

    The man was walking down Etna Street at about 11:00 when a man wearing a woolly hat started speaking to him.

    They both walked towards Hew Clews and the man followed the elderly man into the house.

    A struggle ensued and the man stole cash from his victim and left.

    The man is described as in his 20s, clean shaven and wearing a jacket and jeans.

    In a statement, First Bus said: "We can confirm there have been acts of vandalism around the Bradford area today, which has involved items being thrown at the vehicles."

    "We’d like to reassure customers we are working very closely with the police to identify the individuals involved in these incidents."

    It happened on Revvy Road in Buttershaw with similar incidents having been reported in Leeds, where diversions were also put in place.

    A York man will have to wear an electronic tag for two months after he stole a Segway from a car in the city.

    Sean Beard, 25, of Jute Road in York, took the two-wheeled, self-balancing scooter overnight between Sunday and Monday from a car on Kingsway West.

    He was arrested yesterday and admitted a charge of theft from a motor vehicle in court this morning.

    He was issued with a community order, meaning he has a curfew for eight weeks, has to wear an electronic tag and has had his benefits reduced.

    Police in Sheffield say they're investigating reports of a gun being fired at a car yesterday evening.

    Officers say shots were fired at a white Audi in the Wybourn area of the city at about 21:30 last night.

    Nobody was injured after the shots were fired on Boundary Road, but the Audi had damage "consistent with a firearms discharge", say police.

    No arrests have been made and South Yorkshire Police want anyone with information to come forward.

    Labour's Sheffield Central MP Paul Blomfield has raised the issue of Carillion's insolvency and its impact on staff pensions in the Commons.

    Mr Blomfield asked: "I think it will be very little comfort to many Carillion staff past and present when they hear that their pension fund is approaching a deficit of a billion pounds.

    "Public sector contracts have made some at the top of Carillion very rich indeed. So what action is the minister taking to ensure that current and future pensioners don't lose out?"

    Business minister Andrew Griffiths responded that anyone worried about their pension can contact the Pensions Advisory Service whose dedicated helpline has now responded to over 800 calls since the insolvency of the construction giant was announced earlier this month.

    People in Bradford are being urged to do more to recycle their plastic after the BBC's Blue Planet highlighted its impact on sea creatures.

    Bradford Council says increasing awareness of the damage done to the natural world by waste plastic has made it want to urge people "to redouble their efforts to recycle".

    The authority points out that plastic food wrappings and trays, yoghurt pots, butter tubs and food and drinks cartons, as well as plastic bottles, can be recycled.

    In November last year, the people behind Blue Planet II said there was rarely a time when they were filming that they didn't come across plastic in the sea.

    Three teenagers have been found guilty of criminal damage following incidents in the Swallownest and Aston areas of Sheffield

    A 17-year-old from Aston who was charged with assault and criminal damage to a vehicle was given a conditional discharge for two years, made the subject of a restraining order and ordered to pay £50 compensation for each offence.

    A second 17-year-old, also from Aston, was charged with criminal damage to a vehicle, was given a restraining order, ordered to pay £50 compensation and given a youth rehabilitation order.

    Meanwhile, a third 14-year-old from Aston was charged with criminal damage to a vehicle, given a restraining order and ordered to pay £50 compensation.

    He has also been given a youth rehabilitation order.

    Close-up shots of a colony of rarely seen hawfinches have been captured on film at a stately home in North Yorkshire.

    A colony of about 100 hawfinches has taken up residence at the Yorkshire Arboretum, near Castle Howard.

    The birds, which are thought to have come from eastern Europe in search of food, have been filmed by wildlife artist Robert E Fuller.

    His work is due to feature on BBC Two's Winterwatch.

    A man from North Yorkshire who features in an international list of influential people under 30 says he didn't even realise he'd been included on it.

    David Taylor, 29, from Malton, is the man behind the Yorkshire Young Sinfonia.

    The orchestra became what's thought to be the first youth ochestra in the world to become 100% digital, using tablets instead of sheet music.

    A former cello teacher at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Jerusalem, David estimates the Yorkshire Young Sinfonia has reached a total audience of over four million people in three years.

    Now he's been recognised in Forbes magazine's "30 Under 30" list.
