    A man has pleaded guilty to attempting to murder four children by hitting them with a hammer before crashing a car into a pub.

    Owen Scott, 29, of Fawley, Hampshire, admitted four counts of attempted murder and dangerous driving at Sheffield Crown Court following the crash near Penistone, South Yorkshire.

    Two girls, aged seven and eight, and two boys, aged 21 months and nine months, were seriously injured.

    Prosecutors had earlier said Scott had attacked the children in the car with a hammer.

    He had then, they said, driven the Grey Dacia Logan into the wall of the Travellers Inn, at Oxspring, on the A629, at around 00:25 BST on 23 August.

    Scott will be sentenced on February 15.

    A man in York has been attacked while out walking his dog.The dog was also attacked during the incident by a second man.

    It happened near All Saints Church, in the Huntington area of the city (pictured) at about 12:50 on 24 January.

    The victim, a man in his 50s, was out walking his dog along a path near the church.

    Police are appealing for help from members of the public to find out what happened.

    They particularly want to know about a man described as white, about 5’10”, in his 40s, seen in the area around the time of the incident.

    He was wearing a black puffa-style jacket and light blue jeans and spoke with a southern accent.

    A man has pleaded guilty this morning to four counts of attempted murder and one of dangerous driving, following a serious crash near Penistone last August involving four children.

    29-year-old Owen Scott from Hampshire appeared at Sheffield Crown Court today.

    His car, with four children inside crashed into the wall of a pub in Oxspring on the 23 August. He will be sentenced on the 15 February.

    A full-scale replica of the plane Amy Johnson used in her solo flight to Australia is staying in Hull.

    There had been plans to move the copy of the Gipsy Moth from its original home at Hull Paragon Interchange, to the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington,North Yorkshire.

    After a campaign to keep it in the city, the model will now be moved to St Stephen's Shopping Centre.

    Several places in Yorkshire have been named as being at risk of job losses because of robots taking their jobs.

    A report by the Centre for Cities estimates that by 2030 nine areas could lose more than a quarter of jobs to automation and artificial intelligence (AI).

    Wakefield, Doncaster and Huddersfield have been highlighted as being at risk with roles in shops, administration and warehouses of the most concern.

    West Yorkshire Police say that last Wednesday they had four reports of men calling at houses in Golcar, Salendine Nook and Mirfield.

    The men claimed they had gone to the houses because of water problems in the area.

    Detectives say that no one was injured and that they are appealing for anyone who might have any information.

    UKIP could be made to pay the liable cost of the court case between Jane Collins and three Labour MPs in Rotherham.

    She claimed Rotherham MPs Sir Kevin Barron, John Healey and Sarah Champion knew about child exploitation in the town but did not intervene.

    In February 2017 they each won £54,000 High Court defamation damages.

    The party's secretary Adam Richardson has put out a statement saying they deny the liability.

    Sheffield musical giants the Arctic Monkeys are headlining a number of festivals this summer, their first live dates in the UK since August 2014.

    The band are performing at TRNSMT in Glasgow and Primavera Sound in Barcelona - just two of the festivals in 15 countries they will play at this summer.

    Interest from fans was so intense this morning it temporarily crashed the band's website.

    The band reunited before Christmas to begin work on a sixth album.

    I've been watching Yorkshire based James Brunt attempting to beat the tide, as he makes the most of the natural environment around him:

    A rare colony of hawfinches, at The Yorkshire Arboretum, near Malton,North Yorkshire, will be seen on national television tonight.

    The birds, notable for their oversized beaks which can shear apart large stones and seeds, will feature on BBC Winterwatch after being photographed by wildlife artist Robert E Fuller.

    After discovering an influx of the birds, Robert built the country’s only purpose built hawfinch hide, so that he could watch their behaviour. Take a look at it here:

    Hawfinches are usually found in Eastern Europe. There are estimated to be only 1,500 in the UK.
