    An exhibition celebrating the craftsmanship of Thomas Chippendale opens in Leeds tomorrow.

    The exhibition at Leeds City Museum will show pieces from the Royal Collection, Paxton House, Newby Hall, and Dumfries House.

    Thomas Chippendale, who was born in Otley in 1718, was one of the most famous furniture makers of the 1700s.

    A driver eventually arrested for having two bald tyres was clocked by police at up to 150mph on the A1 in North Yorkshire.

    The 39-year-old from Merseyside was driving a BMW X5 when police began following him on the motorway near Wetherby on Wednesday 7 February.

    The pursuit continued with the BMW reaching 150mph before being stopped in West Yorkshire.

    The motorist was arrested and charged with dangerous driving as well as the tyre offence.

  6. Robber attacks pensioner in broad daylightpublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2018

    A 75-year-old woman was racially abused and robbed in an attack in Huddersfield earlier this week.

    The OAP was on Birkby Road near to Brendon Drive on Monday when a man crossed the road, shouted abuse at her and then grabbed her walking stick.

    He demanded her purse but the pensioner resisted and the two struggled before she was pushed in to a wall, injuring her knee.

    The victim handed over her purse before a witness stepped in to end the attack, which happened at 13:10.

    Police describe the attacked as being in his mid-20s, and 5ft 11ins tall.

    He wore a a light grey hooded jacket, with the hood pulled tightly around his face, and blue jeans.

    He also had a mark or tattoo on his left wrist.

  7. Nightclub to reopen - but must go glass freepublished at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2018

    Niche nightclub in the Wicker area of Sheffield is being allowed to reopen.

    The club has been closed since five men were hurt in a disturbance outside the building in December.

    It is being allowed to reopen providing a number of conditions are met.

    Sheffield City Council says the club will have to increase the number of security staff on site and have a wide ranging review of training and security.

    The the main part of the club will have to use plastic containers for drinks instead of glasses.

    BBC Look North reporter Ian White has sent out a tweet asking for help in finding a couple for an item he is working on.

    They were married in 1982 and their marriage was blessed by the Pope when he came to York.

  14. Post-mortem continues in Barnsley bones casepublished at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2018

    A post-mortem examination being carried out on human bones found in a Barnsley field is expected to continue into this evening.

    The remains of man, which are believed to have been there for around 20 years, were found by children playing in a farmer's field on Mitchell Street, Swaithe on Sunday.

    South Yorkshire Police officers are continuing to investigate the case.

    The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are coming to West Yorkshire.

    Charles and Camilla will visit the historic Piece Hall in Halifax as part of a tour of the county next week.

    While they're in the area, they will also visit businesses and staff at Dean Clough Mills in Halifax, take a trip to the home of the Bronte sisters in Haworth and meet volunteers restoring locomotives as part of the 50th anniversary of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

    A film detailing the adventures of a West Yorkshire explorer is to be shown at the Baniff Mountain Film Festival World Tour in Leeds and Hebden Bridge today.

    Ben Page, 24, started in South America and cycled on his own across the world for three years.

    At one point he rode through the Canadian Arctic with temperatures as low as -30°C (-22°F).

  19. Scarborough's sweetheart pincushions commemorate war artpublished at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2018

    A project is under way in Scarborough to decorate 1,568 "sweetheart pincushions" - one for every day of World War One.

    During the war injured soldiers sent decorated pincushions to their loved ones back at home.

    Now a project called Sawdust Hearts will see the making and exhibiting of 1,568 replica sweetheart pincushions, to mark the centenary of the end of World War One.

    Artist Helen Birmingham says she understands how decorating the pincushions helped soldiers take their minds of their injuries.

  20. Watch: How new bike-sharing scheme in Leeds will workpublished at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2018

    A cycle-sharing scheme using a phone app which lets people unlock bikes and ride away has been given the green light in Leeds.

    The Ofo bikes can be parked anywhere ready for the next person to use and the company behind it says it's the world's first "dockless" bike-sharing scheme.

    The bikes have already been in use in Sheffield. Here's how they work:
