    Sheffield United's co-owner Prince Abdullah is in talks with Kevin McCabe about taking full control of the football club.

    Prince Abdullah first became involved with the Blades in 2013 by purchasing 50% of the Blades Leisure Limited Group.

    According to a statement, external, the two parties are now in further talks about the transfer of the McCabe family's half of the organisation.

    Prince Abdullah and Mr McCabe want to reassure everyone connected to the club that the current negotiations and transfer of ownership "will have no impact on the club's management and its staff", the statement adds.

    Traffic conditions on the A64 at Tadcaster are not now expected to return to normal until at least 10:30 this morning.

    The road remains closed westbound between the junctions with the A162 and the A659 after what police have described as a multi-vehicle incident.

    Emergency services remain on the scene.

    Congestion is now tailing back as far as the A1237 York Ring Road.

    An elderly woman who was knocked to the ground during a drug arrest has won a decade-long legal battle against West Yorkshire Police.

    Elizabeth Robinson was injured after being trapped under two "sturdily built" police officers and a suspected drug dealer in Huddersfield in 2008.

    Mrs Robinson, who was 76 at the time, argued the police had breached their duty of care towards her.

    The Supreme Court said the force was now liable to pay her damages.

    It'll be at least 09:15 before things get back to normal on the A64 after a multi-vehicle accident near Tadcaster, according to Highways England.

    The road is currently completely closed westbound and traffic between Tadcaster and Leeds remains "severely affected", according to police.

    Police say travel between Tadcaster and Leeds has been "severely affected".

    Emergency services are in atttendance, they add.

    Motorway officers from West Yorkshire Police must get to see quite a lot of bad behaviour as they travel up and down the county's roads.

    But yesterday, M62 officer Martin Willis saw something which surprised even him.

    A new exhibition dedicated to one of the world's most famous furniture designers - and one of Yorkshire's most famous sons - opens in Leeds today.

    Thomas Chippendale was born in Otley in West Yorkshire in 1718 and he was educated at the town's grammar school.

    By the 1740s he was working in York as a cabinet maker before making his name in London, designing furniture for some of the greatest houses in the country.

    Outside his work, Chippendale fathered 12 children and had two marriages before his death in 1779.

    His work has now been brought together for a display at Leeds City Museum and one of the exhibition's curators, Ruth Martin, says his output was prolific:

    A Sheffield nightclub ordered to close after five men were injured in a disturbance outside the venue is to reopen with increased security.

    South Yorkshire Police applied to Sheffield City Council to review the licence for Niche, in Walker Street, following the incident on 23 December.

    Four men were stabbed and a fifth seriously injured.

    The council set a number of conditions including additional security staff and improving CCTV monitoring.

  12. Campaigners lose fight against Keighley incineratorpublished at 06:54 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2018

    Campaigners against plans for an incinerator for Keighley are considering their next move after a judge ruled it can be built.

    The judicial inquiry into the £135m centre, which would burn household rubbish, has decided there's no legal reason to stop it.

    The National Trust, which runs nearby East Riddlesden Hall, has objected to the plans due to the prominence of the chimney stack.

    Members of the Aire Valley Against Incineration campaign group are now deciding whether to appeal.

    A cold start to the day across Yorkshire with a risk of ice through the morning.

    Showers and some hill snow are possible.

    It'll remain largely dry overnight with clear skies at times.

    Further traffic restrictions in York are to be examined in a new bid to protect people from a possible terrorist attack.

    The city council has approved a report calling for a full review of traffic access points to the city centre and York's racecourse.

    Barriers were placed in front of York Minster, and on certain streets, in 2017 but the city has been advised by police that further measures are needed, with the changes likely to cost over £1m.

    York receives over seven million visitors a year and councillor Ian Gillies, executive member for transport, said keeping people safe was vital.
