    Detectives in Leeds are making a new appeal for help in tracing a woman who lived in the Burley area during the late 1970s.

    She was called Katherina Gill, and although she's neither missing nor a suspect officers have been trying to trace her since last April.

    Police are admitting the appeal is unusual but say it's important they find the woman who's now thought to be aged about 63.

    There have been delays of up to an hour on the East Coast mainline between Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and London after a safety problem with overhead electrical wires.

    The train company turned the power off for two hours, causing delays at Retford, affecting trains to and from Grantham.

    Delays are expected to continue throughout the afternoon.

    Former Sports Minister Richard Caborn has failed to make the shortlist to be Labour's candidate for South Yorkshire Mayor.

    In a statement, he said that he was "surprised and very disappointed" not to be allowed to go forward by the Yorkshire regional Labour Party.

    That leaves Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis and Sheffield councillor Ben Curran to compete for the votes of Labour members.

    The City of York Council says it's looking at ways to improve recruitment and a plan to improve staff skills after being named by the government as one of the worst in the country for getting people out of hospital and into care.

    It means it might lose control of some of its funding.

    A letter signed by health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, and communities secretary, Sajid Javid, has been sent to City of York Council leader David Carr. It says York is in the bottom five councils for finding care places.

    The council says it received the letter last December and has been working on solutions to the issues it raises.

    It's due to a fire on the southbound carriageway between junctions 38 and 37.

    Police are stepping up patrols in Mexborough near Doncaster.

    Officers want to build links with the community in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area.

    Other authorities including Trading Standards and housing officers will also be taking part in the activity.

    Anyone with information on criminal activity in the area is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.

    A man is still in hospital in a serious, but stable condition today after a car crash in Dewsbury last night.

    It happened at about 21:45 on Halifax Road near Dewsbury College, when the the white Audi A4 he was driving hit a wall.

    The 28-year-old man had to be cut out of the car and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where doctors say he is in a serious, but stable condition.

    West Yorkshire Police say they want any witnesses to come forward.

    The third annual Dark Skies Festival, external will see stargazers gathering on the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales.

    The moors are said to be one of the best places in the country to see stars, because of the low light pollution levels and clear horizons.

    Donna Burton hasn't been seen since 10:30 yesterday in the Elsworth Close area of the town.

    Anyone with information about where she might be is asked to call police on 101.

    All of this was fly-tipped in Bramley, and cleaned up by Leeds City Council today.

    They've issued an appeal to try to find out who is responsible.

    In a tweet their street cleaning team said, external "Holy moly! Someone must know who's behind this? On Ganners Rd, Bramley. Report what you know."

    City of York Council's been named by the government as one of the worst in the country for getting people out of hospital and into a care placement.

    It means the authority might lose control of some of its funding.

    A letter signed by health secretary Jeremy Hunt and communities secretary Sajid Javid has been sent to City of York Council leader David Carr.

    It says York is in the bottom five councils for finding care places, meaning the government might step in and commit a third of its Improved Better Care Fund money in a bid to reduce pressure on the NHS.

    A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty at Sheffield Crown Court to the murder of a Rotherham teenager.

    The body of 16-year-old Leonne Weeks was discovered on a pathway off Lordens Hill, in Dinnington, in January last year.

    A post-mortem examination revealed Ms Weeks had died from multiple stab wounds.

    Shea Peter Heeley, of Doe Quarry Lane, Dinnington, will be sentenced on 5 March.

    Judge Paul Watson QC said: "There is only one sentence and that is a sentence of life imprisonment.

    "However, I will be required to determine the minimum term you will have to serve before you can even be considered for release on parole."

    A children's charity in Leeds is trying to raise more than £2m to protect its future, after its home was put up for sale.

    The Music and Arts Production charity helps children who struggle in mainstream schools.

    It's based at the Hope Foundry, a Grade II-listed 19th Century building, and the charity says £2.4m is needed to secure its long-term future there.

    The building has been the charity's home since 2008, but the lease expires in 2019 and there are plans to redevelop the building into luxury flats.

    The A64 westbound has reopened again after a collision which completely closed the busy road earlier this morning.

    Police say several vehicles were involved shortly after 07:00 on the A64 at Hazlewood, near Tadcaster.

    The crash involved a grey VW Passat, a white BMW 1 Series, a silver Mini Cooper and a bus.

    No one was hurt.

    The road is now fully open and traffic congestion is easing.

    Rarely seen pieces by world famous Castleford sculptor Henry Moore are to go on display in Lincolnshire later.

    The pieces are either inspired by landscapes or made from materials collected from land, such as clay and flint.

    Born in West Yorkshire in 1898, Moore was one of the UK's most renowned sculptors. He died in 1986.

    The works go on display at The Usher Gallery in Lincoln from tonight and celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Charter of the Forest.

    The Charter was a companion document to Magna Carta, which upheld the rights of peasants to access the royal forests.

    People in York will see their council tax rise by 3.5% after senior politicians approved a budget last night for the next financial year.

    South Yorkshire Police officers say they're working closely with the county's football clubs to keep fans safe as final preparations are made before two big games tomorrow lunchtime.

    At 12:30, it's Sheffield United and Leeds United at Bramall Lane.

    Have you seen David Chijioke? He's 15 and he's been missing from his home in Huddersfield for over a week.

    He was last seen in Milnsbridge on Thursday 1 February and hasn't been in contact with his family since.

    He's described as black, 6ft tall, of slim build, with short black hair and a thin moustache.

    He was last seen wearing stonewashed jeans, a white Ralph Lauren shirt with dark spots, blue jacket and a black overcoat.

    He has links to Golcar and Slaithwaite, say police.

    Anyone with information about his whereabouts is being asked to contact police.
