    Marks and Spencer has confirmed its store in Keighley will close in April.

    Last month the retailer announced that it was planning to close 14 shops, cut hundreds of jobs. It comes on the back of disappointing Christmas sales.

    Today M&S have set a date for the closure of their Keighley store - 21 April.

    It's among another seven that have been earmarked for closure, some retail analysts say that some stores had become unprofitable due to rising business rates and higher staff costs.

    Former Leeds United footballer Mark Aizlewood has been jailed for his part in a £5m football apprenticeship fraud.

    The government-funded scheme claimed to help youngsters from deprived backgrounds gain coaching qualifications.

    But those running it lied about the number of people enrolled and did not carry out all of the promised training.

    In total, four men were found guilty and two others admitted fraud charges at Southwark Crown Court.

    Judge David Tomlinson said the scam involved "eye watering sums of government money".

    Some waste and recycling collections will be disrupted today according to Veolia.

    It's because snowy conditions have been affecting roads and footpaths.

    The waste collection company says people should leave their bin/box out until they have been emptied and that details will be posted online, external.

    This is actually 'Freddie Gilroy and the Belsen Stragglers,' a giant metal sculpture made by the artist, Ray Lonsdale.

    It's on permanent display on Scarborough's Royal Albert Drive.

    The sculpture's based on a retired miner the artist became friends with, who was also one of the first soldiers to relieve the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp at the end of World War II.

    Apart from Liverpool, other airports around England say they have been largely unaffected by the weather so far.

    Newcastle is fully operational, as are Leeds Bradford, Gatwick and Heathrow.

    A spokeswoman for Manchester says some flights have been delayed due to aeroplanes being de-iced and flights to Naples have been cancelled due to bad weather in the Italian city.

    A man from Leeds has died after a car crash in the city yesterday afternoon.

    It happened near Tropical World on Street Lane in Roundhay just before 16:00.

    The driver, a 62-year-old man, was in a Jaguar F-Pace which mounted the pavement and hit a lamppost.

    The man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but died a short time later.

    Police say they want to speak to anybody who witnessed what happened or who saw the car before it crashed.

    Three people were arrested in Sheffield yesterday at the site where tree felling work was taking place in Netheredge.

    A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a section four public order offence and a man and woman were arrested on suspicion of obstructing a person acting in the execution of the Highways Act.

    Bradford-based doorstep lender Provident has been fined £1,976,000 by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for failing to disclose the full price of an add-on product on its Vanquis credit card.

    It will also have to repay an estimated £168,781,000 in compensation to the victims of the Repayment Option Plan (ROP) account management product.

    The problem with it was that it put people further in debt, rather than help them cope with debt woes.

    Mark Steward, director of enforcement and market oversight at the FCA, said: "Most Vanquis customers chose the ROP to help manage their credit without realising instead that the product might lead to their indebtedness increasing.

    "Vanquis has decided now to do the right thing by acknowledging the wrong-doing and offering to compensate its customers."

    Though it's not been as badly affected as North Yorkshire, the snow has fallen in South Yorkshire too.

    He says: "About an inch or so of snow settled, but the road is largely unaffected.

    "Woodhead Pass looks to be OK too, vehicles moving steadily. Still snowing," he adds.
