    The Knaresborough statue of the Tudor prophetess, believed to have predicted events such as the Great Fire of London, was unveiled in the town of her birth last year.

    But it looks like she was caught out by today's Siberian blast.

    The Labour MP for Rotherham has launched a website to help people spot and prevent child sexual exploitation.

    The website is the latest in Sarah Champion's Dare2Care campaign, external launched in 2016 in the wake of the town's child sexual exploitation scandal.

    Charity Barnardo's said the resource will help parents and professionals recognise signs of abuse earlier.

    Ms Champion said she "would not rest until all children can grow up without fear of abuse".

    Well, the Beast from the East is here and the bulk of the snow at the moment stretches from North Yorkshire up through Teesside and into Northumberland.

    Showers on and off since the early hours have given Newcastle a couple of inches of snow. City centre roads have generally been treated, but away from that conditions have varied greatly.

    The A19 through Teesside is down to one lane in many parts. It's closed southbound at Crathorne, in North Yorkshire, near the A184 Ellerbeck junction, after an accident. And police report the A1M at Leeming is difficult at present.

    Meanwhile in rural County Durham, the main A68 is closed at Rowley Bank after an accident involving a lorry.

  8. Thousands of trout die after 'criminal damage'published at 07:02 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2018

    About 20,000 American Rainbow Trout have died due to criminal damage at a North Yorkshire hatchery.

    The deaths occurred after an unknown person entered the Bolton Abbey Trout Hatchery, near Strid Wood, between about 14:00 on Saturday and 11:00 on Sunday.

    They are believed to have diverted an "essential" water supply pipe to a large storage tank containing the fish.

    As a result, the oxygen supply to the fish was cut off and the fish died, police say.

    Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact police.

  12. Warnings issued as snow expected to cause disruptionpublished at 06:30 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2018

    We're being warned to expect major disruption caused by snow across Yorkshire this morning.

    The Met Office has issued amber "be prepared" warnings for large parts of eastern England, with up to eight inches possible in parts of the Yorkshire Dales.

    Some rail companies have drawn up revised timetables and gritters have been out through the night in an attempt to keep major roads clear.

    North Yorkshire Police say areas around Harrogate and Craven are particularly bad, with snow and ice and they're warning that some areas are "treacherous".

    The fire service says its Ripon crew has just released a man from his overturned car on Dishforth Road in Sharow, leaving him in the care of paramedics.

    And the A19 in North Yorkshire remains closed southbound between the A67 at Crathorne and the A684 at Ellerbeck due to an accident involving a lorry.
