    This is something you don't see often, 4,000 yellow rubber ducks lined up in the shape of a Y in Bradford's mirror pool.

    The council arranged it to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

    A knife bin has been introduced in the Burngreave area of Sheffield in an effort to reduce the number of bladed articles on the streets.

    It's outside the Lighthouse on Handley Street close to Spital Hill.

    The bin is funded by a grant from the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Alan Billings

    The Rock Christian Centre and the South Yorkshire Christian Police Association applied for the funding which came from the commissioner’s small grants scheme.

    Will this week go down as one of the worst weeks to be a traveller on the M62?

    In the last 48 hours, we count there have been eight accidents - luckily with no serious injuries.

    It's closed two lanes westbound between J28 and J27.

    Highways England say one of their teams are on the way to repair it.

    There are delays of around 15 minutes on the approach.

    If you're travelling to London this evening, Hull Trains says one of its services will be terminating at Doncaster because of a fault on the train.

    It's the 19:11 Hull to King's Cross service.

    Hull Trains says tickets will be accepted on the Virgin East Coast service from Doncaster.

    A DJ who tried to claim £837,000 from the NHS for negligence has been found in contempt of court.

    Sandip Singh Atwal, 33, from Birmingham, went to the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for injuries to his hands and lip after being attacked in 2008.

    He said the treatment he received was negligent, and had left him unemployed and dependent.

    But the DJ was filmed working as a courier and dancing in a music video for a single he also released.

    It is thought to be the first time an NHS trust has brought such proceedings.

    Atwal - whose stage name is Sunny - was found in contempt of court on 14 counts.

    A team of school children from Wath upon Dearne near Rotherham are going to America to take part in the VEX Robot World Championships.

    They've had to learn how to build the robots and write code to make them move.

    They beat competition in the UK and will now take on 500 teams from across the world in Kentucky later this week.

    A man faces trial over a series of armed robberies in Sheffield and Rotherham.

    Shane Murphy, aged 41, of no-fixed-address is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 25 May.

    Mr Murphy has been charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery after convenience stores were targeted over a three month period this year.

    He's been remanded in custody.

    A big celebration of live-scored silent film returns to Sheffield in May.

    The festival is in its third year and will feature twelve events, external in two venues; the Showroom Cinema and Abbeydale Picture House.

    The films to be shown range from slap-stick comedy to darker pieces, all accompanied by live music.

  16. 'Vulnerable' warned of bogus fraud squad officerspublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 27 April 2018

    Vulnerable people in North Yorkshire are being warned about the dangers of phone frauds after recent cases of elderly adults in the county being targeted.

    Cash withdrawal

    The alert comes from North Yorkshire County Council's Operation Gauntlet team after people posing as fraud squad members have conned people out of cash.

    One elderly woman received a phone call from someone claiming to be a police sergeant, who said he was part of an undercover operation and that two men had been arrested after withdrawing £16,000 from her account and replacing it with counterfeit money.

    The victim was asked to go to her bank and withdraw £9,200 in cash to provide evidence of the counterfeit money.

    Believing she was speaking to a genuine police officer she gave it to a man who came to her home.

    The Operation Gauntlet team say anyone in North Yorkshire who thinks a vulnerable adult they know is at risk, should contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service to request contact from them.

    A muntjac deer needed help from the fire service to get free from some railings at a student apartment block in Sheffield.

    The drama unfolded when staff at West One spotted the animal, but all efforts to free it failed.

    It didn't take the fire service long to tackle the situation though.

    The deer is now being cared for and has minor cuts and bruises.

    It'll be released back into the wild once it's back to full health.
