One of two 14-year-old boys accused of plotting to carry out a mass shooting at a school in Northallerton "fantasised" about becoming a "natural born killer", says his former girlfriend.
The teenager and his co-defendant, both now 15, are on trial at Leeds Crown Court accused of planning a mass killing.
Giving evidence via a pre-recorded police interview, the former girlfriend of the older boy claimed that he wanted them to murder her parents and run away - an idea inspired by the Natural Born Killers movie.
Prosecutors say the two defendants had been inspired in their alleged plan to carry out a shooting at a school in North Yorkshire because of their obsession with Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the two teenagers who killed 12 students, a teacher, and themselves at Columbine High School in Colorado in 1999.
During the interview, the girl claimed that, prior to "recruiting" the other boy, her former boyfriend wanted her to be "his Dylan Klebold".
The boys both deny conspiracy to murder. The trial continues.

The jury in the trial of two boys accused of plotting to recreate the Columbine attack at a school in Northallerton has heard how the diary entries of the eldest boy went from "self-depreciation to plots to kill".
The evidence came from the boy's former girlfriend who told police he "admired" and "modelled" himself on Columbine killer Eric Harris.
In a video interview, she said their relationship began as "typical teenage love" but then became "toxic" as he discussed plans to "shoot up" a school.
The two boys are now 15 and cannot be named for legal reasons.
They are both charged with conspiracy to murder but deny the charges.
The trial continues in Leeds.
