  6. Bizarre board games unveiled in Leedspublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 22 May 2018

Before the games console, families across the world enjoyed getting together to play board games, with hours of fun being had playing Monopoly and Cluedo.

But would you have been so keen to play games such as Grade Up to Elite Cow and the curiously titled Lose Your Shirt?

Curators at a Leeds museum say they have unearthed a "quirky collection" of odd board games from their Waddingtons collection.

The games company was based in Leeds from 1922, but is now owned by Hasbro.

If you fancied a game of Lose Your Shirt from 1976, you'd have been treated to a horse racing-themed game where players would bet on the outcome with the risk of "losing their shirt".

But the oddest one has to be Grade Up To Elite Cow from 1986...

It was made with the backing of the British Friesian Cattle Society of Great Britain and Ireland and was billed as "a game of skill and chance for dairy farmers".

All we can say is thank goodness Mr Playstation decided to invent the games console...

By looking at the collection, we can see which of these ideas are timeless and how much the concept of family entertainment has changed and adapted."

  13. Sheffield tree campaigners face court datepublished at 09:19 British Summer Time 22 May 2018

Four Sheffield tree campaigners have been given a date when they're due to appear in court for alleged breach of a High Court injunction granted last July.

    Tree protesters

The campaigners say they're dismayed by this after the recent pause in tree-felling and apparent signals of compromise by the new cabinet member, Lewis Dagnall, at Sheffield Council.

    Amey tree fellers

The tree felling is part of Sheffield City Council's £2bn Streets Ahead project, aimed at improving roads and footpaths in the city. About 5,500 trees have been cut down since 2012.

The council, which is planting new trees after removing existing ones, insists the trees earmarked for felling are either "dangerous, dead, diseased, dying, damaging or discriminatory".

However, many of the trees classed by the council as "damaging" or "discriminatory" are healthy specimens which campaigners say should be saved.

Instead, they say amendments should be made to surrounding pavements and roads.
