    Pupils from Sheffield's Ecclesfield School have been banned from going into two supermarkets unless they are with an adult.

    Morrisons and Asda in Chapeltown have asked them to leave their stores after a number of problems, including claims of vandalism, theft and the intimidation of shoppers.

    The supermarkets say pupils are welcome if they are with an adult.

    Parent Andrew Kemp says the move is "outrageous":

    Police are appealing for witnesses after two sports cars crashed in Sheffield last night.

    The collision, between what's believed to be a Ferrari and a Porsche, happened on Tinsley roundabout at about 19:55 on Sunday.

    There are no reports of anyone being injured in the crash.

    Anyone who saw the collision, or who saw how the cars were being driven beforehand, is being asked to contact police:

  4. Super League 'Magic Weekend' could move to New Yorkpublished at 07:31 British Summer Time 21 May 2018

    New York is one of the cities which could be considered to host next year's Super League Magic Weekend, the Rugby Football League (RFL) has confirmed.

    Newcastle hosted the Magic Weekend

    The annual Super League event was held for the 12th year this weekend and for the fourth time in Newcastle.

    The RFL is considering a new host city and, asked if one of them was New York, chief operating officer Ralph Rimmer said: "Yes, we have lots of offers."

    "There is plenty of interest in it. Newcastle is a really good venue, but it could well move at some point," Mr Rimmer added.

    Flight delays at Leeds Bradford Airport are among the shortest in the UK, new data suggests.

    The top performers were Heathrow, Leeds Bradford, Belfast City and London City, with flights at each airport about about 11 minutes late.

    Scheduled and charter flights, but not cancelled services, from the 25 busiest airports were examined in the study.

    The Press Association, which compiled the departure punctuality ranking, said flights across all airports left an average of 15 minutes late.

    The CAA said the data allows passengers to "make informed choices about which airports they fly from".

    The UK's biggest power station, in North Yorkshire, has announced a £400,000 pilot scheme to capture the carbon dioxide produced from burning wood pellets.

    Drax power station, near Selby, is to collect biomass emissions using what's been described as "new chemistry".

    It is believed to be the first bioenergy carbon capture storage project of its type in Europe.

    The power station has previously been criticised by campaigners for the level of air pollution it produces.

  10. Three women arrested on suspicion of Barnsley murderpublished at 06:30 British Summer Time 21 May 2018

    Three woman have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman in Barnsley.

    The body of 42-year-old Claire Louise Smith was found on Union Street on Saturday morning, after police received a call just before 07:00.

    The women, who are 45, 57 and 71-years-old and all from Barnsley, were arrested yesterday and remain in police custody, police say.

    A post-mortem examination showed that the victim died of injuries from a very severe physical attack.
