'More to do' over recording crimepublished at 09:12 British Summer Time 17 July 2018
Humberside Police force has said there is more to do when it comes to recording crimes, after a government inspection found they weren't recording some crimes properly.
Deputy Chief Constable Chris Rowley said they were pleased the report acknowledged the pro-active response they were taking to recording crime.
However, the rules around recording crime and are very complex and have recently changed, he said.
Chris Rowley added that the force records around 90,000 crimes a year, with the vast majority recorded correctly.
The Inspectorate of Constabulary found the force was failing to record one in five violent crimes - some 6,200 violent crimes a year.
Quote MessageThe work we had done in this area prior to the inspection is already having a positive impact. We are one of the best forces in the country when it comes to recording sexual offences and we are working hard to replicate this success across everything we deal with."
