    Humberside Police are stepping up their manhunt as part of a murder investigation in Cleethorpes.

    Shaun Lyall was found dead at a house on Sidney Street three weeks ago.

    A £5,000 pound reward has been offered for information leading to the discovery of Abdi Ali (pictured above).

    The 28-year-old is believed to have links with Manchester, Merseyside, Sheffield and Lancashire.

    Firefighters are tackling a blaze in Wykeham Forest near Scarborough, after about 1,000 square meters of woodland caught fire.

    A specialist vehicle known as an Argocat's been brought in to help fight the fire.

    Sleeping longer than seven or eight hours a night could be linked with a higher risk of premature death, according to new research carried out at the University of Leeds.

    The research, lead by Keele University's Institute for Science and Technology in Medicine, looked at data from 74 studies involving more than three million people.

    Scientists found those who slept for 10 hours were 30% more likely to die prematurely than those who slept for eight.

    Staying in bed for more than 10 hours was also linked to a 56% increased risk of death from stroke and a 49% increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease.

    Boris Johnson used "dog whistle type of language" when he said Muslim women wearing burkas "look like letter boxes" fellow Conservative Baroness Warsi of Dewsbury has said.

    Conservative chairman Brandon Lewis has asked Mr Johnson to apologise, and he has been criticised by Labour MPs, some Tories and Muslim groups.

    Speaking to the BBC, Baroness Warsi said "It's not so much the message that Boris was allegedly trying to get out but the very deliberate language that he used - letter box, armed robber."

    "It was the kind of dog whistle type of language that we saw during the Brexit campaign, appealing to a certain type of audience where essentially the message in the end really doesn't matter."

    "It's the language and the way in which it's delivered that really captures that vote" she said.

    Two fans of the world's longest-running sitcom, the BBC's West Yorkshire-based Last of the Summer Wine, have turned their obsession into an Edinburgh Fringe Show.

    Andrew T Smith and Bob Fischer spent seven years watching all 295 episodes made between 1973 and 2010.

    The TV show, set in Holmfirth, followed the antics of Compo, Foggy and Clegg.

    The two friends said the labour of love brought back treasured childhood memories and offered a snapshot of Britain through the decades.

    Vandals threw rocks at a train travelling at almost 70mph near Sheffield at the weekend smashing the window, police say.

    The Northern train service was travelling near to Butterthwaite Lane in the north of the city when it was attacked by four children, the driver said.

    It happened at about 18:30 on Sunday 5 August.

    Three of the young people were standing on the bridge over the track and threw items, with a fourth child on the side of the line.

    British Transport Police are appealing for information into the attack, reminding people that throwing items at trains could lead to someone being seriously injured or killed.

    Bridge Hill in Stainforth was damaged meaning a sheer drop into the River Don if it wasn't quickly repaired.

    Doncaster Council say "swift remedial action" means the bridge has reopened.

  15. A1 northbound to remain closed for next two hourspublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 7 August 2018

    The A1 is still closed northbound between A639 Barnsdale Bar and the A1M J40 after two lorries crashed earlier, it's not expected to reopen for the next two hours.

    Traffic has been backed up for more than six miles as emergency services work to clean up the aftermath.

  18. 'Wife has NVQ in watering' - Keeping UK's best lawn greenpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 7 August 2018

    With the recent hot weather and lack of rain, gardens are taking a bit of a backseat for some people across Yorkshire.

    But not if you're Stuart Grindle, from Tickhill, near Doncaster, who's twice been named owner of Britain's best lawn:

    The 75-year-old has been battling the dry weather, saying his garden gets a daily watering and a loving touch.

    Mr Grindle says: "The first thing you have to be is enthusiastic. The second thing is you need to put the right seed on.

    "You need to make sure you cut it regularly. Cutting it is very important. And you don't need to drench your lawn in water - 10 minutes will do," he adds.

    But recent health problems for Mr Grindle have meant he's needed a little help from his understanding wife.

    "My wife has got an NVQ First Class in watering," he declares.

  20. Chapeltown fatal shooting: Two more men arrestedpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 7 August 2018

    Police investigating the murder of a 24-year-old man in Leeds have arrested another two people, bringing the total to nine.

    Christopher Lewis, 24, from Leeds, died on Thursday, a day after he was shot in Reginald Street, Chapeltown.

    A 38-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

    A total of three people are still in police custody with the rest having been released pending further investigation.
