    One person was treated at the scene by paramedics.

    Passengers on board a Jet2 flight from Faro to Leeds Bradford Airport thought they were "going to die" after their plane lost pressure and dropped thousands of feet due to a technical fault.

    Flight LS252 was diverted and landed at Bordeaux on Friday, with passengers reporting oxygen masks being deployed and the plane dropping by about 10,000 feet in under five minutes.

    People on board the flight praised the pilot who had to make a controlled descent before landing safely at the airport in northern France.

    Jet2 said in a statement: "We would like to emphasise that at no point was the safety of anyone onboard compromised."

    In a tweet, passenger Stevie Spence said the pilot was "brilliant".

    "We were stuck on a plane for about 30-40 minutes after we landed in France. He came into cabin and talked to everyone like he'd just bagged my shopping. What a guy!"

    Passengers were flown home on a replacement aircraft, while the affected plan is still grounded.

    Ben Davis, from Harrogate, is running around the edge of Yorkshire to raise money for Calm, the Campaign Against Living Miserably.

    The 470-mile trip will take him about 18 days in total, and he's been running while carrying all of his kit on his back.

    He's so far covered more than 340 miles and hopes to finish in Scarborough on Saturday 18 August.

    Kirkstall Abbey could soon become one of Leeds' premier event spaces - but some local residents are worried the plans will turn the 900-year-old monastery into a "theme park", according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

    According to a report going before the city council's licensing sub-committee, it would allow for the performance of plays, recorded music, live music, dance and the "exhibition of films", every day from 07:00 to 23:00.

    But not everyone is happy with the proposals, with some people living nearby calling the plans a "nightmare".

    One local resident said: "I was horrified to read of the planned alteration. What is being proposed is truly a nightmare - almost turning the abbey into a theme park."

    A decision is due to be made on the application at the council's planning sub-committee on 21 August.

    People commuting into South Yorkshire could see one of their major routes changed if plans to alter a roundabout go ahead.

    The Whittington Moor roundabout, which connects the A61 in Chesterfield to Sheffield, could have traffic lights installed as part of new £5m plans by Derbyshire County Council.

    The roundabout has a high rate of accidents and the traffic lights could make it safer, according to the council.

    Commuters are now being asked for their views about the plans.

    If you bought a lottery ticket in February in Leeds you are advised to check it, because it could be worth £1m and you've only got a week to make your claim.

    The National Lottery says the winning ticket was bought in the city on 24 February and has a successful Millionaire Raffle code on it.

    The winning combination is BLUE 8300 4980, but the deadline to claim is 23 August.

    If no one comes forward, the money and interest it has generated will go to projects supported by the National Lottery.

    A police officer had to be cut out of his vehicle by firefighters after being hit by a car on the M1 near Rotherham at the weekend.

    British Transport Police says one of its officers had stopped on the motorway when he was hit from behind at about 00:40 on Sunday morning, causing non-life threatening injuries.

    The driver of the car which hit the police vehicle, a 53-year-old man, has been charged with failing to provide a specimen.

    Shaun Robert Marsden, of Sheffield Lane, Rotherham, is due to appear before Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Thursday 30 August.

    A yellow "be aware" warning of heavy showers and thunderstorms has been issued for a majority of Yorkshire, external.

    The affected area covers the entire region, with a warning that "flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly".

    The warning is in place until 22:00 this evening.

    Rail operator TransPennine Express has apologised to its passengers across Yorkshire after it admitted a third of its services don't meet the public performance measure.
