    She's back in her hometown this evening to talk about the programme, which is being screened at the National Science and Media Museum.

    Plasterboard has been torn down to reveal grand vaulted high ceilings and an historic area blocked off for decades.

    There are calls for more police patrols in parts of Hull hit by two ram-raids overnight.

    A vehicle was deliberately driven into this convenience store on Sutton Park and a bookmakers in Bransholme early this morning in an attempt to break in.

    Now, ward councillors for those areas are calling for action.

    Humberside Police say extra officers are in the area to reassure people living locally.

    Anyone with any concerns or information is being asked to contact police.

    Police want to speak to this man after a family was racially abused and a man exposed himself on board a Scarborough to Leeds train

    The family were travelling on a TransPennine Express train last month when a group of men boarded the train at Scarborough.

    They started to make loud, racially abusive comments to the family who were in the same carriage. During the incident, one of the men took off all his clothes before the group got off the train at Leeds station.

    Anyone with information as to the man's identity is being asked to contact police.

    The district council says the skiing was initially a draw when Summit Indoor Adventure opened, but that's no longer the case.

    It's part of the authority spending £230,000 on alterations to the facility, which will result in a new space to support lots of different activities.

    Four months of works are expected to start later this year.

    The wealthy Healey family, who made their money in business, have been given permission this afternoon to build a huge mansion in the village of Warter, near Pocklington.

    They reportedly bought the entire village and estate 20 years ago for a about £50m.

    The house would be built on the site of a stately home which was demolished in the 1970s and these artist's impressions show that the new building will be just as grand:

  18. Man charged with Scarborough rapepublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 14 August 2018

    An 18-year-old man's been charged with one count of rape and one of attempted rape by police in Scarborough.

    It happened at about 03:00 on Sunday morning in an alley between the Black Lion pub and the NCP car park on North Street, police say.

    A young woman who'd been on her way home after a night out with friends is receiving support from specially-trained officers following the attack.

    A landmark bridge which is thought to be the oldest of its kind in Yorkshire is set to close this week for essential repairs.

    Newlay Bridge, which is popular with walkers in the Horsforth area, was built in 1819 and is made from cast iron, is set to close on Thursday and Friday.

    So the condition of the bridge can be maintained it has had to be waterproofed, something which can't be done while people can access it.

    The work started last month and is expected to continue until October.
