    A Hull film maker says he's not happy with the age rating his new film has been given by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

    A Northern Soul, by Sean McAllister (pictured), looks at last year's Hull City of Culture celebrations from the perspective of working families.

    He says he was hoping young children would have been able to watch it, but it's been rated by the BBFC as only suitable for audiences over the age of 15.

    The board says the film has about 20 uses of strong language and exceeds anything permitted for the 12A classification.

    A man was left with broken ribs after he was mugged as he was out walking in Bradford in the early hours of the morning.

    Police say they want to talk to these people about the attack, one of whom police think is in his late teens:

    It happened on Lower Kirkgate at about 02:00 on Saturday 30 June as the victim, who is in his 30s, walked through a hotel car park.

    The man had his bank card, a cash and two silver chains stolen and was left with broken ribs, cuts and bruises in the attack.

    A car has become stranded on the central reservation of the M1 this morning after a crash.

    The Highways Agency say police are on their way to the scene.

    An auction of gin worth about £50,000 closes in Scunthorpe today.

    The bottles are being sold off after Gin Festival Limited, based in Keighley, West Yorkshire, went into administration in July.

    Festivals due to take place, including ones in Lincoln, Wakefield, and Sheffield, were subsequently cancelled.

    The bottles are being sold in an online auction which ends today.

    The head of midwifery at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trusts is urging pregnant women not to eat frozen vegetables, such as sweetcorn, after an outbreak of food poisoning.

    A major excavation of Sheffield Castle begins today.

    It's the first significant archaeological dig in the area for over 20 years.

    The castle's thought to have been built in the late 11th or early 12th Century and was demolished at the end of the Civil War in the 17th Century.

    A team from Wessex Archaeology will excavate a number of trenches across the site to try to piece together its origins and history.

    A woman has died after the car she was travelling in crashed into a lamp-post in the Monk Bretton area of Barnsley.

    The 50-year-old passenger was in a car travelling on Burton Road on 8 August when the car hit the lamp-post,

    The 68-year-old driver suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.

    Police are appealing for witnesses.

    Drugs worth about £1m have been found at a property in Hull over the weekend.

    Officers found around 1,500 cannabis plants and bulbs at a property on Anlaby Road, after reports of suspicious activity.

    Two men have been charged with drug offences and will appear before magistrates today.

    Humberside Police said a large amount of the drugs would have ended up on the streets of Hull.

    There's been a warning the region's rural economy could be hit by this year's extreme weather.

    As the grouse shooting season gets underway, the Moorland Association says extreme weather has meant a number of planned shoots have been cancelled.

    Many rural businesses, such as pubs and hotels, will be affected, the organisation warned.

    Campaigners opposed to shooting have spent the weekend protesting across Yorkshire calling on landowners to refuse shoots permission to use their land.

    Many travellers are continuing to suffer delays and cancellations on TransPennine Express services.
