    Leeds City Station is to get a new platform.

    Platform Zero will be the highlight of a £161m investment project, which will also see the existing platforms lengthened.

    In a bid to ease congestion around one of the busiest stations outside London, part of New Station Street will be pedestrianised.

    Work will start early next year, with long-stay parking spaces being reduced as work on the new platform begins.

    A man who was jailed for life in 1988 for a murder in Bradford is on the run after escaping a prison on the south coast.

    Jeremy Brabrooke has absconded from Ford Prison in Sussex.

    He hasn't been seen since Wednesday.

    People are being asked to call 999 if they see the 56-year-old.

    Sussex Police say he has links to Hayling Island and Portsmouth in Hampshire.

    Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck has been added to the Scotland squad for Tuesday's Nations League match with Israel at Hampden.

    He will join up with Alex McLeish's pool of players after they return from Saturday's game in Albania.

    The 27-year-old was capped at under-21 level, but has never been involved with the senior set-up before.

    On Thursday, John McGinn became the eighth player to drop out of the original squad for the double header.

    A man from North Yorkshire who broke his neck as a boy has been able to fulfil a lifelong ambition to go sea fishing with his father.

    Dale Milne, from Whitby, was paralysed when he dived into a shallow sea in 2011.

    He had been a keen angler but had never been able to go sea fishing with his father - until now.

    Thanks to a specially adapted boat, the charity Wetwheels Yorkshire was able to take the duo out fishing and now Mr Milne hopes to make it a regular occurrence:

    A motion will be put to delegates at meeting this evening.

    It says she's been a persistent critic of Jeremy Corbyn and her attacks on him have damaged the party.

    If the motion is passed, the constituency will write to party's chief whip at Westminster asking for the Labour whip to be removed from the MP.

    It's reported the 19-year-old victim was attacked inside a property at about 06:15 on Saturday 10 November in the town centre.

    Police officers say the man pictured could hold vital information.

    As a major change to the running of emergency services in North Yorkshire gets under way, the county's Police and Crime Commissioner has refused to comment on whether she's an appropriate person to take over the governance of its fire service.

    Julia Mulligan began her first day as the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for the county on Thursday, despite refusing to answer whether she was fit for the role.

    Yesterday, she met North Yorkshire's Police and Crime Panel for the first time since allegations of "bullying behaviour" were made against her, in the same week that further separate allegations were made about her conduct.

    Asked in the meeting about her fitness and suitability to govern both the police and fire service, Mrs Mulligan said she "wasn't going to get into a debate" on the matter.

    A man from Rotherham has been arrested on suspicion of rape, kidnap and false imprisonment as part of an operation looking at child sexual exploitation in the town.

    The 62-year-old man was arrested yesterday and released under investigation, the National Crime Agency has said.

    The government agency says there are currently 22 separate investigations under the Stovewood umbrella, with 153 suspects identified and 24 suspects being charged.

    A giant humming musical instrument made of 37 crystal glass pipes which is on show in Wakefield has won the £30,000 Hepworth Prize for Sculpture.

    The pipes, created by artist Cerith Wyn Evans, are arranged in two overlapping, hanging arcs and are exhibited at the Hepworth Wakefield.

    Gallery director Simon Wallis, who chaired the judging panel, said: "Cerith's recent work has been truly exceptional, extending the possibilities of what sculpture can be."

    Two women are due to be sentenced later after being found guilty of murdering a woman found dead in the street in Barnsley.

    Penelope Brownlie, 45, and Justine Wainwright, 58, were convicted of killing Claire Louise Smith, 42, after a trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

    A post-mortem examination revealed Ms Smith, whose body was found in Union Street on 19 May, died as a result of a severe physical attack.

    A book of condolence has been opened for former Bradford Council leader Ian Greenwood, who died earlier this week following a short illness.

    Bradford's Lord Mayor, Zafar Ali, has paid tribute to Mr Greenwood saying he was a "great politician" who was widely respected for his work.

    The book of condolence is available to sign at City Hall until 14 December.

    Mayor of Rotherham councillor Alan Buckley pushed the button in front of the expectant crowd, with music from X Factor contestant Georgia Burgess and Rotherham Youth Choir.

    A huge Christmas tree is the centrepiece of the display in the town centre.

    A block of student flats looks set to be built on the site of a popular former Chinese restaurant in Leeds, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

    A panel of councillors voted almost unanimously in favour of the new development, which could be home for up to 600 students on the site of Maxi's Chinese restaurant on Bingley Street.

    Despite concerns from members over communal space, behaviour and the perceived dullness of the proposed building, the plans were accepted.

    The 11-storey complex is set to also include a lounge, cinema, gym, games area and study space facilities.

    Maxi's was founded in 1989 by Raymond Wong and could seat more than 200 people.
