Sheffield memorial fly-past will be 'unbelievable'published at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2019
A fly-past planned for the anniversary of a plane crash in a Sheffield park will be an "unbelievable" experience, according to the man who inspired the campaign.
A then-eight-year-old Tony Foulds saw the US bomber crash in Endcliffe Park almost 75 years ago when it returned from a World War Two bombing flight.
Since then, Mr Foulds has been looking after the memorial near the site where 10 airmen were killed.
"I started off one day a fortnight coming down for 10 minutes", he said. "Now I go 260 times a year and I stay for three hours."
A fly-past has now been announced following a social media campaign by Sheffield TV presenter Dan Walker.
US Air Force and RAF planes will feature.
"The fly-past is going to be unbelievable. Unbelievable," said Mr Foulds.
