    Police officers say they were sworn at for not picking up discarded emergency kit as they helped rescue a trapped motorcyclist from underneath a car in Doncaster at the weekend.

    The male rider had become wedged under the Ford Wildtrak pick-up truck after a crash on Harlod Avenue, Woodlands on Saturday.

    But South Yorkshire Police officers say they were sworn at by local residents after the air ambulance blew medical wrappers around as it landed.

    Writing on Facebook, officers said they were "not so pleased" by members of the public swearing at them as they freed the man.

    The rider was taken to hospital after suffering broken bones.

    Lane one northbound is closed as emergency services are on scene between junction 36 and 37 with Barnsley.

    A campaign is being launched today to try and reduce the number of dog attacks on sheep.

    Insurer NFU Mutual says livestock in Yorkshire valued at more than £400,000 has been lost to dog attacks in the past four years.

    It says owners failing to keep their dogs on a lead while in the countryside is a particular problem in North Yorkshire.

    An inquest is due to be held later into the deaths of two sisters from Sheffield while on holiday in Vietnam.

    Beth Anderson (right), 24, and Isobel Mackensie Squire, 19, had been living "a life of adventure", their family said.

    They were swept over a waterfall near Da Lat City.

    Tuesday marks the third anniversary of their deaths.

    Counter-terrorism police in Leeds have arrested a man on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist acts.

    The 33-year-old was arrested on Saturday and is being held as part of a pre-planned operation into suspected extreme right-wing activity, West Yorkshire Police said.

    The force added that a property in Leeds was being searched by officers.

    Supt Chris Bowen said public safety was their "top priority".

    He added: "If you see or hear something that could be terrorist related, act on your instincts by reporting your concerns."

    People concerned about the proposed location of a cruise terminal in Hull are due to hold a meeting later this evening.

    The council's preferred site for the terminal is next to the Deep Aquarium and the Victoria Dock Estate.

    It is part of Hull's 10-year City Plan, external, launched in June 2013 by High Steward of Hull Lord Mandelson.

    People who live nearby say they fear the planned terminal will ruin their waterside neighbourhood.
