Fire engines were called to reports of an explosion in Driffield this afternoon.
No one was hurt in the incident, in which an old oil tank blew up in the Queen Street area of the town.
The fire was extinguished before the fire service arrived, Humberside Fire and Rescue said.
A man has been killed while working at a greeting cards wholesaler in Leeds.
The contractor was seriously injured while working at Paul White, which sells greeting cards, gift wrap and stationary.
An ambulance was called to the site on Upper Accommodation Road earlier today.
West Yorkshire Police said it was contacted at about 13:15 and the man was pronounced dead a short time later.
His family have been informed as has the coroner.
Inquiries taking place to establish the circumstances of his death.
Police say the incident is being treated as an industrial accident and officers are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.

A Leeds bar will remain closed until the middle of next month after a huge fight broke out there at the weekend.
Police say they were "overwhelmed" by the violence at Norman Bar on Call Lane and door staff were described as being "out of their depth".
Leeds City Council's licensing sub-committee held an emergency meeting today after the incident in the early hours of Sunday.
The police asked for the bar to have its licence suspended amid fears of retribution.
There will be a meeting about the bars future in April.
Police are trying to track down those involved in the brawl.
Officers arrested two people at the scene and are now checking CCTV and social media to identify potential suspects.

Pedestrians in Bridlington will have to wait a bit longer for the replacement of a footbridge over the railway line.
The original bridge, linking Georgian Way and the Bessingby Road industrial estate, was closed after engineers found it was corroding.
The council says rumours that the delay is down to disabled access problems are not true.

A footballer has been acquitted of racially aggravated harassment during a mass brawl near the end of a match.
Sheffield Wednesday's Fernando Forestieri allegedly insulted Mansfield Town defender Krystian Pearce during a pre-season friendly on 24 July.
Mansfield Magistrates' Court heard Mr Pearce had to be restrained during the 40-strong confrontation.
District Judge Jonathan Taffe ruled Mr Pearce may have misheard as "it was very loud" at the ground.

A runner suffered broken ribs and cuts and bruises to his head and body after he was attacked by a group of youths in Hull.
The 41-year-old man was out running when three youths started taunting him on Boothferry Road, at the junction of the Fiveways roundabout.
Police say they ran after the man, tripping him up, and then kicked and punched him while he was on the floor.
Humberside Police is appealing for information about the youths.
They are described as being aged between 16 and 18 and were wearing dark clothing.
