The event, in Bradford, is headlined by Dr Ella Cockbain, the country’s leading academic and authority on sexual violence, sexual exploitation, trafficking and modern slavery.

The conference, organised by Muslim-led West Yorkshire based campaign group Together Against Grooming, features high profile names like Sara Rowbotham, the sexual health worker who exposed the Rochdale grooming gang scandal and Nazir Afzal, the main prosecutor in the case.

Khalida Ashrafi, chair of Together Against Grooming, says more public funding is needed for organisations working across communities to tackle child sexual exploitation.

A funding boost would mean people working at grass-roots level could "work with communities to raise awareness, keep children safe, to make communities, families and localities safer," she says.
