    A number of cats have been killed after dog attacks in Scarborough, according to police.

    Officers are trying to identify who owns the dog or dogs involved and want to hear from anyone with video or photographs of attacks taking place in the Barrowcliffe area.

    Since the start of June there are believed to have been a number of incidents, with officers now working with Scarborough Borough Council’s dog warden team to find out more.

    In a statement, North Yorkshire Police said: "We understand the incidents have caused concern in the local community and are appealing to local people to come forward with any information to enable us to investigate further."

    Trials for the prestigious Invictus Games have started in Sheffield, with injured veterans and service personnel taking part ahead of the 2020 games at The Hague.

    The founder of the games, Prince Harry, is due to be in Sheffield on Thursday to welcome the athletes.

    He founded the Invictus Games in 2014 with the aim of helping wounded service personnel and veterans with their physical and psychological rehabilitation.

    Hundreds of people are in Sheffield for the trials as they hope to qualify for the games next year.

    Boris Johnson is the new Conservative leader and is set to be the UK's next prime minister following the contest to succeed Theresa May.

    Mr Johnson will officially become prime minister on Wednesday.

    A former mayor of London, Mr Johnson was seen as the clear favourite, although a number of senior figures have said they will not serve under him.

    Mrs May will officially tender her resignation to the Queen on Wednesday afternoon after taking part in her final Prime Minister's Questions.

    Mr Johnson is expected to take office shortly afterwards, following an audience at Buckingham Palace.

    The NHS Trust at the centre of a planned two-week strike by staff in Bradford has denied "backdoor privatisation" claims.

    Bradford Teaching Hospitals Trust wants to transfer workers such as porters and cleaners to a new subsidiary company.

    More than 300 staff from the trust's estates and facilities team are set to strike for two weeks starting on 1 August as a result of the move, with an option for continuous strike action.

    In a statement, the trust has said it will "never sell off the company; it will always be 100% owned by the NHS" and that this was the best long-term option.

    Staff will have their terms and conditions and NHS pension scheme protected, the trust added.

    Rian Dobson, 33, is thought to have left her home on Vicar Lane, Woodhouse, yesterday evening.

    She is about 5ft 5ins tall and has long blonde hair.

    Anybody who knows where Rian could be is being asked to get in touch with police.

    A woman in a wheelchair was attacked by a group of men in Bridlington who punched her and tried to tamper with her medical equipment, police say.

    The double amputee was approached by four men on Gypsey Road in Bridlington at about 21:15 on Friday 12 July, police say.

    Humberside Police say they want to hear from a group of teenage boys who were passing by at the time and may have witnessed the "distressing" incident.

    Levels of violence at Wetherby Young Offenders Institute have dropped and safety is good, according to HM Inspectorate of Prisons.

    But prisoners still don't always have access to daily showers or phone calls, the report also states.

    Overall, inspectors say the prison is "progressing well".

    A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man was fatally stabbed in the chest in Sheffield at the weekend.

    Police were called to an address on Piper Crescent in Longley at about 22:15 on Sunday night.

    The victim, a 21-year-old man, died in hospital a short time later.

    A cordon remains in place as investigations continue, according to South Yorkshire Police.

    An exercise yard at an East Yorkshire prison has been transformed by local graffiti artists who've spray painted designs all over the walls.

    Hull graffiti collective Spray Creative worked with inmates at HMP Humber in South Cave to paint plants, birds and slogans around the yard.

    One design says: "The beauty of life is while we can't undo what is done, we can see it, understand it, learn from it and change."

    Writing on Twitter, HMP Humber staff said the designs had "transformed a boring wing yard into a colourful, bright environment".

    Inmates at the prison also took part in a workshop programme and reportedly "loved the engagement and learning new skills".

    Spray Creative members, who also painted the walls of the visits hall, have thanked the prison for the opportunity and said it had been a "great project".

    More than half of next year's Tramlines festival tickets have already been sold, organisers say.

    About 7,000 people were in a queuing system on the website at 18:00 yesterday when the "super early bird tickets" went on sale for the Sheffield event.

    However, there have been complaints from people who have been charged for tickets despite not getting a confirmation email, with some applicants saying they'd been charged twice.

    Timm Cleasby, who is from Tramlines, said there is a process to get money back after issues caused by "overwhelming demand".

    "There were some issues definitely. If people have been charged twice or if they've been charged and not had a confirmation, the ticketing company will work with people on a case-by-case basis and sort out problems they've got," Mr Cleasby said.

    The 21-year-old victim suffered serious injuries in the attack which happened on New Street on 28 June.

    Police officers are hoping to speak to the man pictured above in connection with the incident.

    He is described as a black male, with short black hair, of slim to medium build, wearing a dark jacket with red stripes down the arms.

    He had a "manbag" across his shoulder, a light coloured bucket hat and light coloured trainers.

    A 22-year-old man has previously been arrested in connection with this incident and released under investigation, according to West Yorkshire Police.

    Sheffield Wednesday have reported Newcastle United to the Premier League over the appointment of their former manager Steve Bruce.

    Ex-Sunderland boss Bruce, 58, resigned as Wednesday boss last week following talks with the Magpies.

    He was confirmed as Newcastle boss on a three-year deal, taking coaches Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence with him.

    The Owls, whose Championship campaign starts in 10 days, have yet to name a replacement for Bruce.

    In a statement, the South Yorkshire club said: "Following Newcastle United's announcement on 17 July 2019 of its appointment of former Sheffield Wednesday staff Steve Bruce, Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, the club confirms that it has today reported Newcastle United's conduct to the Premier League."

    Buskers in York could see enforcement action taken against them if people complain they're making too much noise.

    The city council has issued new guidelines which say music shouldn't be amplified between 21:00 and 08:00.

    Buskers also shouldn't stay in one area for more than two hours, the guidance says.

    Regular York busker Dave Morris said he understands why the new advice has been issued.

    "I think it's right to keep the volume to a reasonable level. I think there are quite a few people that play very loud and I can understand that problem," says Mr Morris.
