    Rotherham Council says it has closed a number of roads in the area due to flooding.

    They are:

    Barclays has confirmed it has been sending text messages to flood-hit customers after concerns were raised over the legitimacy of the message.

    People on Facebook have been questioning the text, which offers support to people with accounts who may have been affected.

    It says: We hope you haven’t been affected by the flooding in South Yorkshire – we just want to let you know that if you need any support with your account, cash, cards etc. we’re here waiting to help.

    If you’d like us to give you a call, just reply Yes to this message. If you don’t need any support from us, you don’t need to do anything. Your Barclays Team

    The bank confirmed with the BBC that the message is genuine.

    The A63 has been closed in both directions between South Cave and Melton.

    Highways England said the closure was "due to increased flooding from water running off the surrounding fields".

    This is the scene in Bentley, Doncaster at the moment as rain keeps falling on already soaked communities.

    Pumps from the fire service are moving water away from homes, as they have been for a couple of days now.

    The weather forecast for the next few hours looks wet, but rain will ease over Doncaster at about 21:00.

    People hit by flooding in South Yorkshire can now apply for relief aid from a local charity.

    Almost £250,000 has been raised from donations by South Yorkshire's Community Foundation.

    Now, those who have been affected by the flooding can apply for money, external to help repair some of the damage.

    The South Yorkshire's Community Foundation is managing applications.

    Jared O'Mara will not stand for re-election in Sheffield Hallam, it has been confirmed.

    Mr O'Mara, 37, who ousted former deputy prime minister Nick Clegg in the 2017 general election, has been Independent MP for the constituency since resigning from Labour in 2018.

    The controversial MP stated earlier this year he planned to step down from the role but is yet to submit the necessary application.

    According to documents published by Sheffield City Council, external Mr O'Mara is not one of the seven candidates to contest the seat.

    Mr O'Mara's former office manager, Gareth Arnold, is also not included on the list, despite previously saying he intended to stand.

    The candidates are:

    Sheffield Wednesday have been charged with misconduct by the English Football League after selling their Hillsborough stadium to owner Dejphon Chansiri to try to avoid breaking spending rules.

    Wednesday sold their ground for about £60m, helping them record a pre-tax profit of £2.5m for 2017-18.

    The charges relate to "how and when" it was sold and its inclusion in the 2018 accounts when it was sold a year later.

    The Championship club say they will "vigorously defend" the charges.

    After reviewing a "large number of documents" relating to the sale, the EFL said there was "sufficient evidence to justify issuing" the charges, which are to be considered by an independent disciplinary commission.

    If found guilty, Wednesday face "any sanction" under EFL regulation 92.2, which range from a reprimand to a points deduction, financial penalty or possible expulsion from the League.

    A man arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man was found at a house in Meltham has been released on bail.

    The 34-year-old man was arrested after the body of a man in his 60s was discovered at a house in Whingrove Avenue on Tuesday.

    West Yorkshire Police say they're not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

    Castleford and Hunslet legend Dennis Hartley has died at the age of 83.

    The prop, who began his career at Doncaster, made 205 appearances for the south Leeds side between 1961 and 1966, before joining Cas for a fee of £4,750.

    Hartley, a Challenge Cup finalist with Hunslet, won the trophy twice at Weldon Road, in 1969 and 1970, and represented Great Britain on 11 occasions.

    He was a late call-up to the 1970 Lions tour which remains the last to win a series in Australia.

    Later he coached the 'colts' at Castleford, helping the likes of the Beardmore brothers - Bob and Kevin - and Tony Marchant progress to the first team.

    A "beloved" family cat died and another was injured after being shot by someone using what's believed to have been a pellet gun in a North Yorkshire market town.

    The cats were shot in Kirkbymoorside at about 17:00 on Sunday 3 November, police say.

    The cat pictured above died as a result, while another cat belonging to the same family had to be taken to a vet for treatment and survived.

    Police are now asking for people's help establishing exactly what happened.

    In particular, officers are appealing for anyone with information about those responsible to get in touch.

    A woman has appeared in court in connection with the death of a 30-year-old man.

    Sally Godwin, 28, has been charged with the murder of Ronald Portz.

    Mr Portz's body was found at a house in Dodthorpe, Hull in the early hours of Saturday morning.

    Ms Godwin, of Dodthorpe, did not enter a plea during her appearance at at Hull Crown Court. She was remanded in custody and will appear again on 28 January.
