It happened shortly before 23:00 last Saturday at the end of the alley between the Three Cranes pub and Pizza Express, according to North Yorkshire Police.
A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation.

Four schools in Bradford have closed as well as two in Leeds with some undergoing a "deep clean".
A number of other schools across the region have been shut over the past week following similar outbreaks.
Public Health England said it expects such illnesses to circulate in schools at this time of year and the flu vaccination is the best protection.
The schools affected in Bradford are Beckfoot Oakbank, Horton Park Primary, Beechcliffe Special School and Canterbury Nursery School and Centre for Children.
Beckfoot Oakbank and Horton Park Primary said they would both remain closed on Friday.
In Leeds, Parklands Primary has shut as well as Leeds East Academy.
A man has been charged by police over the discovery of thousands of pounds' worth of drugs in Bridlington.
Charles Turner, 20, from Doncaster, but of no fixed abode, has been charged with two counts of possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply.
It was after plain-clothed police officers saw a suspected drug deal taking place on the Promenade in Bridlington at about 10:00 on Tuesday.
The drugs, including crack cocaine and heroin, are thought to be worth about £2,000.
Mr Turner has been bailed to appear before Beverley Magistrates' Court in January.

A man was interrupted by a member of the public after a window was smashed and a dash cam was taken from a car.
It happened at about 15:30 on 11 November on Brinsworth Street outside Adj Liquid and Diva Nightclub, Brinsworth.
The offender is described as being of slim build and wearing a yellow high viz jacket, black trousers, black baseball cap and carrying a black rucksack.

To mark the occasion, it's been announced that the Leeds-based dance company will hold a special one-off anniversary gala in its home city next year.
Northern Ballet is based at a £12m purpose-built studio in Leeds city centre and has been described as the largest space for dance outside London.
Police are appealing for information after a masked man armed with a bladed weapon threatened a shop worker during a robbery in Bridlington.
It happened at a store on Sewerby Road, at about 13:15 on Monday.
The masked man is reported to have been holding a blade while he demanded money from the till, police say.
He stole four bottles of whisky before running out of the shop down an alleyway. No-one was hurt during the incident.
The man has been described as being in his mid to late 20s, about 6ft tall, wearing all black clothing, with a hood pulled tight over his face which was covered with a scarf.
Officers want to speak to anyone who might have information about the incident.
There'll be no racing at Doncaster tomorrow because of heavy rainfall.
The course saw racing cancelled earlier this month following a period of heavy rain in the Doncaster area.
Now, it's been confirmed racing won't take place tomorrow, with a further track inspection to determine if racing will happen at all over the weekend.

The sentencing of a man from Hull who killed his partner's 23-month-old daughter highlights the need for people to be aware of child safety, a charity has said.
Jonathan Garner (pictured left) was sentenced to life in prison yesterday for smothering Mia Gregson in 2014.
Her mother, Samantha Gregson (pictured right), was sentenced to four years for allowing her daughter's death.
The NSPCC has said Garner’s "brutality" let to her death.
A statement from the charity said: "We all have a duty to look out for children’s welfare. If a child is in immediate danger, please call 999."
The discovery of a red kite which died from poisoning in North Yorkshire has led to police issuing a new warning over the illegal use of pesticides.
The bird was found by a member of the public near Pateley Bridge on 1 March, close to a caravan site, according to North Yorkshire Police.
The force says it submitted the bird to the Wildlife Incident Investigation Scheme for analysis after examination to rule out obvious causes of death.
The analysis found two pesticides, Bendiocarb and Isofenphos, present in the bird’s stomach.
Officers say these pesticides can be laid on bait such as the carcasses of rabbits or birds and are urging dog walkers not to allow pets to eat or investigate animal carcasses.
Anybody with information about the poisoning of the red kite is being urged to contact police.

Yorkshire's first HM Armed Forces Commemorative Walkway has been unveiled in Barnsley.
The walkway, dedicated to those who've served in the armed forces, features granite slabs inscribed with details of military units with local significance and individuals who deserve recognition.
In time, the walkway will be extended with more slabs and will form a focal point between Westgate and Shambles Street to provide a point of contemplation for those who have lost relatives.
The first stone is dedicated to Pte Matthew Thornton from 4th Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment, who died in Afghanistan in November 2011.
Pte Thornton's family attended the ceremony to pay tribute.

Sheffield had 456mm of rain beating its record from 2000 of 425.2mm.

This autumn is currently ranked as the 24th wettest on record for England and Wales, with 372.1mm falling on average across the two nations. The record was set in 2000 when 502.7mm was recorded.

A public inquiry into plans to build 500 homes near an ancient bog in York which is now a nature reserve, which have drawn opposition from naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough, is due to end today.
Sir David is among those saying the development, near Askham Bog, would destroy an important wildlife habitat.
Askham Bog is a wetland habitat and Site of Special Scientific Interest on the site of an ancient lake left behind by a retreating glacier 15,000 years ago.
Sir David said: "Askham Bog is hugely valued by the people of York and by all naturalists and is part of our cultural and natural heritage. It is our collective responsibility to save it."
Jamie Gibbins, managing director of Barwood, said the proposed development at Moor Lane would have a "permanent and impenetrable barrier" on the northern edge of the bog, and would address York's housing needs "in an environmentally sustainable way".
The funeral of former Great Britain rugby player Dennis Hartley is due to take place in Pontefract later.
Mr Hartley played for Hunslet and Doncaster before joining Castleford, where he made more than 260 appearances.
He died aged 83 after a long battle with Alzheimers disease.
The prop, a Challenge Cup finalist with Hunslet, won the trophy twice at Wheldon Road, in 1969 and 1970, and represented Great Britain on 11 occasions.
Castleford said in a statement, external: "Whilst Dennis might have been viewed as a terror on the field by the opposition players, he was a true gentleman off it and served Castleford Rugby League Football Club magnificently."
