    A passenger came close to being hit when a bus was attacked with bricks in Scarborough at the weekend, a firm has said.

    One bus was targeted on Saturday and two on Sunday on the Eastfield Estate, according to East Yorkshire Buses.

    No-one was hurt, but several hundred pounds worth of damage was caused, the company adds.

    Director Ben Gilligan said: "Bricks were thrown at the buses which resulted in a number of windows being smashed, curtailing services early and causing inconvenience for our customers.

    "Thankfully nobody was injured but we had one customer who had a very near miss. If they'd been in the seat by the window they'd have been hit."

    Pontefract-born England head coach Chris Silverwood will return home from New Zealand mid-way through the second Test in Hamilton following a family bereavement.

    Silverwood, 44, will fly back on Saturday after day two of the match at Seddon Park.

    Assistants Graham Thorpe and Paul Collingwood, along with Yorkshire's England Test captain Joe Root, will take charge in his absence.

    The tour of New Zealand ends after the second Test, with the remainder of the squad returning home a week today.

    Silverwood, who was only appointed England head coach last month, lost his first Test in charge when the team was thrashed in Mount Maunganui on Monday.

    Leeds Rhinos have signed hooker Kruise Leeming on a two-year contract from Huddersfield Giants.

    Leeming, 24, played 120 times for the Giants after making his debut in 2013.

    He was part of England's second-string team which faced Jamaica at Headingley last month.

    Leeds director of rugby Kevin Sinfield said Leeming would be "a great addition" to their squad.

    Huddersfield managing director Richard Thewlis said the club "really had no option but to agree" to a transfer request from Leeming after the player said he had "gone stale" and wanted a new challenge.

    Leeds back-rower Owen Trout, 20, has joined Huddersfield on a four-year contract as part of the deal.

    Pumps from the Environment Agency are being withdrawn from villages in Doncaster which were hit by flooding.

    Areas like Bentley and Fishlake were affected by flooding when the River Don overtopped, leading to homes being evacuated.

    At its peak, the Environment Agency says it and its partners had 55 pumps in operation, pumping 15 tonnes of water every second - the equivalent of filling Wembley Stadium every day.

    Most areas have now gone back to normal, with river levels and flood plains being at their usual "winter level".

    Police searching for a 93-year-old man missing in West Yorkshire have found a body.

    Barry Scott was last seen at about 17:50 yesterday in Turnsteads Close in Cleckheaton.

    Police said formal identification hasn't taken place yet but Mr Scott's family has been informed of the discovery.

    The death is not being treated as suspicious.

    A Hull man has been jailed for killing his girlfriend's 23-month-old daughter.

    Jonathan Garner, 26, has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years at Sheffield Crown Court for the murder of Mia Gregson.

    Mia's mother, Samantha Gregson, also 26, was given a prison sentence of four years on Tuesday for allowing her daughter's death at their home in Hull.

    The toddler died on 13 February 2014 after being taken to hospital from home.

    The court heard she had been smothered.

    A woman has died after the car she was travelling in crashed into the back of a broken-down bus in East Yorkshire.

    The crash, involving a Citroen Picasso car and a double decker bus, happened on the A1079 between Beverley and Hull at about 17:50 last night.

    The passenger in the car, a woman in her 70s, died at the scene.

    The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, was seriously injured, though Humberside Police say his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

    The force has appealed for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.

    Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk says he made an "error of judgement" working with his former assistant Pep Clotet.

    Clotet became Birmingham City head coach after Monk was sacked in the summer.

    The Spaniard was his number two at Birmingham, Swansea City and Leeds United.

    Clotet's side visit Hillsborough tonight.

    "Unfortunately, I didn't listen to a lot of people in football circles who warned me about him. That's an error of judgement from myself," said Monk.

    "I don't speak with him. What's most important to me when I'm assembling a staff is to give them an opportunity and show them complete trust, and that they repay that trust.

    "Sadly not everyone has that character. Some choose to pursue their own opportunities in the worst possible way."

    Clotet would not discuss his relationship with Monk when asked about it in his pre-match news conference.

    But Birmingham were more forthcoming on social media, by appearing to make a joke of the situation:

    Addresses in Cleckheaton, Bradford and Dewsbury are being searched as part of a National Crime Agency (NCA) anti-money laundering operation.

    The NCA, which leads the UK’s response to serious and organised crime, says it's working with West Yorkshire Police to "conduct arrests" and carry out searches of the properties.

    An NCA spokesman said: "Today’s action is pre-planned and being carried out with the support of local police officers.

    "The action is against people suspected of being involved in a money laundering group and, as such, residents should not be unduly concerned about public safety during today’s activity."

    A Sheffield man who's usually seen walking through the city wearing a green wig and pushing a pram has been awarded the city's highest honour.

    John Burkhill has been fundraising for cancer charity Macmillan for over 30 years, in the process raising more than £750,000.

    In the end, Mr Burkhill hopes to raise £1m.

    Affectionately known in the city as "the man with the pram", Mr Burkhill will join Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Nelson Mandela, who both have been awarded the Sheffield honour.

    A collision in York is currently blocking part of the outer ring road, say police.

    Emergency services are now at the scene on the A1237 between Wetherby Road and the Askham Bryan roundabout.

    The collision happened at about 08:30, according to North Yorkshire Police.

    Drivers are being asked to avoid the area for the time being.

    A 93-year-old man with dementia has gone missing in West Yorkshire, police say.

    Barry Scott went missing from his home in Cleckheaton at about 17:50 last night and officers "urgently" want to find him.

    Police say they are concerned for his welfare due to his dementia and because he is frail.

    The National Police Air Service helicopter has been assisting with the search.

    Mr Scott is described as white, 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build, with grey hair.

    It's thought he is wearing glasses, a black jacket, dark blue trousers and brown shoes.

    Police say he may also be wearing a beret.

    Anyone who sees him is being asked to contact police immediately.
