In a statement, Hull College "stressed" that the operational review found "no impropriety on the part" of Ms Swithenbank
In a note to colleagues Ms Swithenbank said: “While there can be no doubt that this has been a challenging period, I have always cherished the belief that this is a special place, doing wonderful things.

Bus driver Mark Blanchon, from Selby in North Yorkshire, is going all out to get his passengers in a seasonal mood.
He's driving them dressed as Father Christmas on the No. 415 Selby to York bus and has changed the route information on the bus front to a festive greeting.
Passengers have to be on their best behaviour because Mark...errrrr, Santa...is checking they've been well behaved before allowing them on the bus:

After threatening the worker the suspect left the bank with "a large quantity of cash", police say.

A West Yorkshire MP says he's "delighted" a proposed new link road to Leeds-Bradford Airport won't now go ahead.
Stuart Andrew, Conservative MP for Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough, says he was concerned only a small percentage of airport traffic would benefit and the road would cause congestion.
He tweeted: "Delighted to see Leeds Council plans for a link road to Leeds Airport are to be scrapped.
"This was a bad idea - rail link and investment in ring road is what we need."
Officials at Leeds Council say a proposed railway station a mile and a half away from the airport will still be built.

Over 250 properties are still without gas in part of North Yorkshire after a major supply loss earlier this week, but the majority of those hit by the problem have now been reconnected.
The villages of Barlby and Osgodby, near Selby, were affected by the problem, with about 1,400 homes and businesses losing their gas supply on Wednesday evening.
Engineers are visiting each affected property to turn supplies back on and have been working through the night, according to Northern Gas Networks (NGN).
A spokesperson for the firm said 259 properties remain without gas, but it's expected all will be reconnected by the end of today.
Food vouchers for cafes and heaters and hotplates are being offered to residents who need immediate help.
A catering van and incident room have been set up by NGN at Osgodby Village Institute.
An investigation into what caused the loss of gas is under way, according to NGN.

Two Leeds sports personalities are among the 12 people set to lead the way towards the city's Capital of Culture celebrations in 2023.
Ex-professional rugby league player Jamie Jones Buchanan (pictured bottom left) has represented the city through the Leeds Rhinos for over 20 years.
He'll be joined by former professional football player Sanchez Payne (pictured middle right), who has played for both Leeds City Boys and Leeds United.
Trust Chair Ruth Pitt said she was "delighted with the breadth and depth of talent" who will work with the £12m funding for the year of celebration.
She says: "I believe we have the perfect mix of experience and personalities needed to guide the trust through the next three years of planning and then delivering an amazing cultural programme. This is on a scale Leeds has never seen before."
Others leading the project include Judith Blake, leader of Leeds City Council, and Phoenix Dance Theatre's artist director Sharon Watson.

Read MoreParents in East Yorkshire are being urged to speak to their children about the dangers of playing on the railway after "shocking" images were captured of two teenage girls trespassing on the tracks in Howden.
The images were caught on camera earlier this month near Howden station and show two girls on the tracks.
Network Rail describes the images, taken on an "extremely busy" line, as "worrying".
Over 100 passenger and freight trains travel at up to 90mph on that stretch of the railway every day, the company says.
Dawn Sweeting, community safety manager for Network Rail, said: “There is never any excuse to trespass on the railway. It is not a playground and people need to treat it with the respect it deserves.
“This type of behaviour is incredibly dangerous and can be fatal. Sadly, we have seen too many times the tragic consequences of children ignoring the warnings and taking risks that have resulted in terrible injuries or death.
"We are asking parents to speak to their children about the dangers and how important it is to stay safe."
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) says it's expecting a big increase in calls tonight as people break up from work ahead of Christmas.
Last year, the service saw a 15% increase in the number of calls it took on the same night, which is one of the busiest days of the year for UK pubs and clubs.
The day has become so notorious, it's been dubbed 'Mad Friday' or, in places, Black Eye Friday.
It is one of the busiest days of the year for the NHS, external for treating alcohol-related illness and injury.
Dr Steven Dyke, YAS deputy medical director, says: "We know it'll be extremely busy as people go out and celebrate with a few drinks and we'll see a huge rise in demand."
