Son's new appeal over Sheffield mum's murder in 1997published at 13:28 British Summer Time 10 August 2020
A man has appealed for help bringing his mother's killer to justicemore than two decades after her murder.
Patricia Grainger, 25, was strangled, stabbed and sexually assaulted near her home in Parson Cross, Sheffield, in August 1997.
Her body was found submerged face down under a divan bed base in Hartley Brook in nearby woodland.
Her killer has never been found.
Her son, Danny Grainger, said: “She was treated as if she wasn’t human and brutalised in the most sickening way.
“Someone in the community must know what happened to Pat and has sat on this secret for decades."
Meanwhile, a £10,000 Crimestoppers reward being offered in connection with finding Mrs Grainger's murderer has been extended for a further three months.
Mr Grainger said: "There’s still time for you to do the right thing, to tell the truth and help us get answers.”
Gemma Gibbs, from Crimestoppers, said: “If you have information, please speak up. You may be eligible for a reward and the family could finally have some of the answers they've been seeking for far too long.”
