Two men were seen on CCTV using a ladder to climb onto the scaffolding around the North West Tower some time between 01:30 and 05:00 on Friday 31 July.

It's believed they threw a small entrance door off the roof which hit a gargoyle and knocked it to the ground.

Rail operator Northern has announced a new timetable will "reflect the new normal" as it deals with Covid-19's "knock-on effects".
The firm, which cut services during lockdown, said it would resume as many as possible from 14 September "without risking punctuality and reliability".
Northern has been gradually reintroducing services since May.
Regional director Chris Jackson said routes with the "most significant demand" had been prioritised.
A spokesman for the operator, which runs services across the north of England, said the move would not be a return to pre-Covid timetables, but rather a reintroduction "in a phased way".
The company spokesman said that meant some routes will not see any "enhancements" in the new timetable, while "a handful" of others would see a reduction in services.
Details of the new timetable will appear on the company's website.

Schools have been "horrible, horrible places" without students during the pandemic, a primary school head teacher has said.
Ahead of his school reopening on 7 September, Gugsy Ahmed, from Parkinson Lane Community Primary School in Halifax, outlined the "raft" of measures put in place to protect students from coronavirus at a Calderdale Council meeting.
“It’s like someone pulled the soul out of schools," he said. “I am really looking forward to see the staff regularly, the parents regularly – and the children. I can’t wait to start seeing everybody.”
Mr Ahmed added it was not a 100% guarantee that a school could stop all infections, but every school had undergone risk assessments with public health staff and extra measures had been put in place.
He said if symptoms appeared during the day for a child they would get the child to a "Covid room".
“What’s likely to happen is we will be taking the children out into a shelter, sit with them at a distance, and give them a book to read a story with them until their parents arrive,” he said.
