Arrests were made at 13 addresses in the district as a result of the operation which involved a specialist team, according to West Yorkshire Police.

Det Ch Insp Alan Weekes, from Bradford’s Safeguarding Unit, said: "This operation shows our ongoing commitment to tackle child sexual exploitation across the Bradford District.

Developer EA Sports said it wasn't able to create Elland Road in time for the game's launch due to the delayed end to the previous season.

One fan said the absence "might end up costing them a fair bit in sales".

Another Leeds supporter shared a photo of him cancelling his pre-order, writing: "No Elland Road, no Fifa 21. Come back to me EA Sports when you sort your lives out."

Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, who were promoted alongside Leeds, will have their stadiums immediately included in Fifa 21 as they already feature on previous instalments of the franchise.

EA Sports said it was committed to resolving the issue in a future update and said the new game featured five new stadiums "with a sixth to come".

A spokesperson said: "While the later-than-planned end to the 2019-20 season meant we weren't able to recreate Elland Road in an EA Sports Fifa game for the first time ever in time for the launch of Fifa 21, we are committed to giving fans the chance to play in all 20 Premier League stadiums and will provide more news on post-launch updates in the future."

  9. Covid home-working speeds up council site sales prospectspublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    Local Democracy Reporting Service

The popularity of home-working during the Covid-19 pandemic could see a council selling more of its buildings quicker than planned, an official has said.

The Leonard Building, LeedsImage source, Google

Leeds City Council had said in January it was looking to generate £95m through the sale of buildings.

Martin Farrington, director of city development, said home-working had "become a necessity on a very significant scale" due to the pandemic.

Previously 800 staff worked at home, but that figure is now 8,000, he said.

In a report to the council, Mr Farrington said fewer workers in offices could result in the authority being able to sell more of its buildings to generate extra cash.

A report which went before councillors in January 2020, claimed the authority expected to raise about £95m by selling dozens of sites across the city between 2019 and 2022.

A separate report set to go before councillors later believes about 50% of council-run offices are also likely to be sold off in the coming years.

PC Emma Rae (left) was patrolling Ecclesall Road in January when it was reported a man had been seen with a gun, possibly firing a shot and then "pistol whipping" a victim.

The suspect got into a taxi and was followed by PC Rae out of the city centre.

The taxi stopped with the suspect getting out, paying the driver, and then running away while being chased by the officer.

He ran into PC Karen Gunnill at Ponderosa Park who drew her Taser after seeing the man reaching for his waistband.

Firing the Taser, the armed suspect was arrested. A knife was found on him after he ditched the imitation air weapon before the arrest.

South Yorkshire Police Federation Chairman Steve Kent said: “As far as our colleagues knew, this man was carrying a firearm and had already inflicted an injury on a member of the public.

“They are police officers, though. And they carried on towards that danger with one thought in their minds: to protect the public from this dangerous individual.

“The officers knew he had to be detained as soon as possible and showed incredible determination and bravery to get the job done. We are very proud of them both.”

As a result, Trinity have been forced to stand down a further seven players.

However, their Super League game against Wigan Warriors on Friday is still due to go ahead.

"We spoke about potentially locking ourselves down for four or five days to get rid of the virus that is lingering around the players," Chester (pictured) said.

"It would give us chance to have a look at the training aspect and to give this place a real deep clean.

"If that's what it takes, then that's what we're going to have to do and fingers crossed that works for us."

After the positive results and standing down other players, Chester only has a squad of 17 available for the match against the Warriors at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

  14. Police to enforce Covid-19 rules 'as last resort'published at 12:14 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

Humberside Police will enforce the government's new Covid-19 rules - but only as a last resort, the body which represents officers in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire has said.

    Humberside Police

From today in England, shop workers will have to wear face coverings and pubs and restaurants must close by 22:00 every night as part of the new rules.

People should also work from home where possible, only 15 people will be allowed to attend a wedding and fines for not wearing masks are to increase to £200, restrictions state.

Pete Musgrave, from the Humberside Police Federation, which represents rank-and-file police officers, says his members will continue to use an "exchange and explain approach".

He said: "We'd obviously engage those people, explain what we're doing, and only as a last resort, if we're not getting the compliance we want from those people after we've done all those things, then potentially we'd look to doing the enforce side of it with the fixed penalty notice.

"I don't see us jumping straight into enforcement straight away," he added.

Peel Park Primary School and Nursery is one of just eight schools picked by Historic England for the Champion Heritage School Award.

It's after students were taught about the history of where they lived, including learning about the statue of former Prime Minister Robert Peel in the local park.

Some pupils also visited Saltaire to learn about the significance of the Unesco World Heritage Site there and Sunny Banks Mills in Leeds.

Staff at the school also organised for World War Two veterans to speak to the children about their experiences during the war.

The school has been awarded £1,000 to help support further work with Historic England teaching students more about their heritage.

Teacher Harjyot Hayer said: “I feel it’s especially important for our children to understand their local and wider heritage, in order to strengthen their sense of identity and experience.”

  19. Scarborough to stay on watchlist for now - health bosspublished at 09:38 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    Local Democracy Reporting Service

Scarborough is likely to remain a coronavirus "area of concern" for at least another week, according to North Yorkshire’s director of public health.

People in ScarboroughImage source, Danny Lawson/PA Wire

Last week, the borough of Scarborough - as well as Selby - was added to Public Health England's watchlist due to a rise in Covid-19 cases in the area.

Dr Lincoln Sargeant says measures are being taken to address the spread of the virus but it's “prudent” to keep an eye on the area for a while longer.

Dr Sargeant says he is currently “not convinced” a lockdown will be required in Scarborough and North Yorkshire, but instead he would like to see an “interruption” to household gatherings through the so-called "rule of six".

A lockdown would be a “last resort” if infections got out of control, he adds.

Dr Sargeant says in the last seven days Scarborough’s figures have fallen below the national and local average, with 19 cases in the week up to 20 September at a rate of 17.8 cases per 100,000. North Yorkshire’s average rate is 26 and England’s currently stands at 30.6.

He adds: "In Scarborough and Selby, I think the rates are coming down and they are on the watchlist, whereas there are areas that are going up that are not, just based on the [relative] statistics.

"It is likely Scarborough and Selby will remain [as an "area of concern"] for at least another week and that is prudent, I think, to make sure the trends are, indeed, firm and they are actually stabilising and going down.”

Craven is likely to be added as an "area of concern", he adds.
