    A football match in West Yorkshire was disrupted at the weekend by an unusual pitch invader when an alpaca bounded on to the field.

    Carlton Athletic's tie against Ilkley Town on Saturday was halted for 15 minutes when Oscar escaped from a nearby farm and joined the action.

    Attempts were made to entice it off the pitch with food, before a farmer managed to shepherd it home.

    After the bizarre delay, Ilkley went on to secure a 2-0 away win.

    An 11-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Leeds, say police.

    Emergency services were called to reports of a collision between a grey Audi and red BMX bike on Stanningley Road at 17:45 on Saturday.

    The boy remains in hospital in a "serious condition", according to West Yorkshire Police.

    Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police.

    Two Army veterans who suffered post-traumatic stress disorder have crawled over the Humber Bridge to raise money for others with the condition.

    David Neaves and Joe Hall, both from Yorkshire, completed the 4,659ft (1,420m) challenge in three hours and raised more than £2,700.

    Mr Neaves (pictured), originally from Beverley, was part of Army operations in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan during 14 years of service.

    After leaving the military, he lost several friends to suicide and went into a "very dark place" two years ago, attempting to take his own life.

    He said during the "excruciating," bridge crawl he suffered cramp and felt the challenge may have been too much to contend with after 984ft .

    Humber Bridge

    Mr Hall, who is from Hull and met Mr Neaves while in the Army, said: "It's physical pain going across the bridge, but it's nothing compared to the mental pain veterans are going through."

    Mr Neaves has called for dedicated 24-hour units within the NHS to "monitor and help" veterans who need support.

    The government said £2.3bn was being invested into mental health services.

    A 31-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with an incident in Sheffield which left a man "critically injured," police say.

    Emergency services were called to Ecclesall Road shortly after 17:30 on Saturday.

    The 36-year-old man was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

    The woman, from Sheffield, is being questioned in police custody on suspicion of assisting an offender, according to South Yorkshire Police.

    Officers say they are keen to hear from anyone who saw the incident or who was driving through the area and has dashcam footage.
