Events where big groups gather with their modified and souped-up cars have been banned in Scarborough for another three years.
The extended ban on "car-cruising" has been agreed by senior councillors despite hundreds of people voicing opposition to the plans.
The council took action in 2017 after it was left with a £50,000 bill to repair damage to a newly-resurfaced road following an event.
The driver involved was prosecuted and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and damaging property.
In 2018 a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) made it an offence to attend, participate or promote an unauthorised event, with £100 fixed penalty notices or fines of up to £1,000 for those who flout the ban.
Organised events can still take place if they have written permission from the council.
Ryan Linley, from the Static Royals cruise events in Scarborough, told BBC Radio York a very small minority of people caused the problems, saying: "You always get the odd bad apple who spoils it for everybody."
Scarborough Borough Council says the extended ban will help tackle anti-social behaviour.
A cat shot in the head continued to look after her five kittens despite her injuries, an animal charity has revealed.
Mother Leoni was taken in by Cats Protection in Skegness after being found with her offspring in a garden in July.
Vets checking her over discovered two airgun pellets lodged in her head - one behind an ear and another in her neck
Fiona Smith, who volunteers with the charity, said: “Poor Leoni must have been in agony for some time from her injuries, yet still she was caring for her five young kittens.
“At 18 months old she’s barely an adult herself, yet in her short life she has been attacked with an air gun, fended for herself as a stray and reared five kittens. And after all that, she’s the friendliest cat I’ve probably ever come across."
Vets removed the pellets during a surgical procedure and the group are fundraising for the cost of the treatment.
Leoni has now been rehomed with one of her kittens, Leonard, while her other four kittens have also gone to new homes.

Read MoreA van suspected of being used to fly-tip rubbish in Bradford has been crushed after being seized by the council.
Bradford Council said the white van was seized in March in West Bowling after local residents reported it dumping illegal waste.
The council said the van had also been seen fly-tipping in the Great Horton area and the authority was able to seize it using powers which came in to force in in 2015.
“Anyone using people to get rid of waste should check the carrier’s documents. Otherwise you could end up with a fine if the waste ends up getting fly-tipped," said Sarah Ferriby from the council.

Rugby league legend Rob Burrow is leading a £5m charity appeal to build a new motor neurone disease (MND) centre in Leeds.
The former Rhinos player was diagnosed with the neurological disorder last year at the age of 37, and he has since campaigned to raise the profile of the condition.
He and his family are now helping Leeds Hospitals Charity, where he has received care, fundraise to pay for a state-of-the-art purpose-built care centre for those with MND living in and around the city.
Mr Burrow said he hopes the centre will be a "calming and tranquil sanctuary".
He said: "I envisage a beautiful, welcoming building that is user and family friendly.
"A place where patients feel comfortable to bring family members into a safe and homely environment for them, with signs of hope and optimism.
"For carers of those with MND it is important to know that their loved ones are in the best possible place.

The current MND centre based in Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, Seacroft Hospital, treats around 80 people, double the number of people the service supported 10 years ago.
Built in the early 20th century, the centre is located on a busy multi-purpose ward without the ability to be fitted with the latest equipment and facilities for those who are physically impaired.

More than 180 council employees in Leeds were attacked at work last year, according to newly released figures.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, 182 council employees were physically assaulted during the 2020/21 municipal year, up from 179 the previous year and 111 in 2018/19.
A total of 107 assaults were recorded on those working for the Children and Families department and 23 attacks on Resources and Housing staff.
In a statement Leeds City Council said: "As you can see there has been many physical assaults and the type of assaults are wide ranging from staff being kicked, punched, nipped, pushed and hit with various objects.”
The authority added that keeping staff safe was a priority and said it was taking steps to protect employees, including providing body cameras for enforcement officers and improved security measures at public facing buildings.

Construction work is now underway, with the solar panels expected to be fully operational by the end of the year.
Marc Beaumont, Head of Sustainability at the trust, said: “We’re grateful to East Riding Council for a swift decision on our plans and we’ve already started the work because the time for action is now.
“We cannot afford to wait any longer to make radical changes to the way we run our organisation and this is a major step forward.”
