Two "suspicious packages" discovered in the grounds of Lincoln Castle have been found to be "promotional material" left behind after an event, police say.
The items were discovered on Monday and led to the evacuation of the castle complex, which includes Lincoln Crown Court.
Bomb disposal experts were called to the scene and a 100-metre cordon was put in place.
However, Lincolnshire Police say that following investigations "we are satisfied that the two packages were promotional material which had been left behind following an event hosted in the Castle grounds, and were completely innocent".
The force added: "We take reports of this nature extremely seriously, and followed our protocols to quickly set up a safety cordon, call in the specialist teams, and ensure anyone in the vicinity was removed from the area."

City of York Council's deputy leader has defended delays to improving the area's walking and cycling network after being accused of "failing to get their act together" over the plans.
The £3.3m Active Travel Programme is planned for the next two years.
It includes a segregated cycle route on part of York's outer ring road and an off-road cycle route between Wheldrake and Heslington.
Councillor Andy D'Agorne, who is responsible for transport, told BBC Radio York: "Engineers have been testing that the proposals are feasible, that the scheme that's been designed is going to be safe, before we can move forward and implement it."
But Kate Ravilious, from the York Cycle Campaign, external, has accused the council of "failing to get its act together" over the proposals.
She said most of the money had been sitting there for over a year and they were concerned the funding could end up being withdrawn because of strict conditions attached to it about when the work needs to be done.
The plans are being debated at a council meeting today.

Leeds City Council has announced its six bonfire and firework events will not take place for the second year running.
They have been called off because of rules around organising large outdoor gatherings, which the council says would require people to book tickets in advance, along with a limit on numbers.
If the events had gone ahead, officials say people would have had to produce proof they had been vaccinated against Covid-19 or that they had received a recent negative test result.
The council says the extra security required would push up ticket prices and cause potential delays.
Councillor Salma Arif, who oversees public health, said: “We certainly did not take this decision lightly, and we know that this news will come as a real disappointment to many people, and this is something that we too very much share."
Community bonfires are usually held at East End Park, Roundhay Park, Woodhouse Moor, Springhead Park in Rothwell, Middleton Park and Bramley Park, and attract around 100,000 visitors.
News of their cancellation comes just days after Leeds announced another of its traditional attractions, the German Christmas market, was being called off too.

Conservationists on the east coast say they’re extremely concerned by the deaths of hundreds of seabirds in recent days.
Dead birds, including guillemots and razorbills, were first spotted in Scotland but have been now been seen at Bempton on the East Yorkshire coast near Bridlington.
The cause is unknown but is being investigated.
Poppy Rummery, from RSPB Bempton, says: "Potentially with climate change being such a big issue at the moment, that is having a really great impact on the seabirds and this is something that could be affecting their food supply at the moment.
"We're finding a lot of starved birds on beaches and around the coast, whether this has an impact or something else, we are really keen to find out."
