    Former England fast bowler Darren Gough has been appointed as Yorkshire's interim director of cricket until the end of the 2022 season, the club has confirmed.

    Gough, 51, replaces Martyn Moxon, who was one of 16 people to leave the club last week amid the racism scandal.

    A report found former player Azeem Rafiq was a victim of "racial harassment and bullying" at Yorkshire.

    Gough, who spent 15 years at Yorkshire over two spells, said: "I want to play my part in rebuilding the club and I am looking forward to working with the exceptionally talented group of players here.

    "Yorkshire County Cricket Club has been part of my life since my earliest days in cricket when I made my debut in 1989," he added.

    Lord Patel, chair of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, said: "As a former captain of the club, Darren's impact on the Yorkshire and England teams was considerable as a player.

    "His infectious enthusiasm and will to win will be so important as we aim to be the best on and off the pitch.

    "We are ready to embrace the opportunity together and build a brighter future for Yorkshire County Cricket Club."

    An appeal's been launched following the death of a teenage car passenger in North Yorkshire.

    A green Ford Fiesta hit a wall near Settle Golf Club at about 21:15 on Friday, police said.

    The 18-year-old male passenger died at the scene and the 20-year-old driver is being treated in hospital.

    A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "We need to establish the circumstances of the collision and are appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw the incident to get in touch.

    "We're particularly keen to hear from those with dashcam footage of the B6480 towards Settle at around 21:00."

    The northbound carriageway of the road is currently closed at Dishforth, according to National Highways.

    Normal traffic conditions are expected between 10:00 and 10:15, the organisation said.

    Simon witnesses at first hand the impact of coastal erosion and meets farmers and locals living and working by the sea. He ends his journey with a seaside pint of local ale.
