Tony Harper, Tory candidate for Ashfield, has said nationally, the results are not what the Conservatives were hoping for.
He's hoping to overhaul Gloria de Piero's huge majority.
He said: “We may not get a majority nationally, but it’s going to be really close locally."
“I had a 9,000 mountain to climb, so if it turns out to be as close as it looks like it’s going to, then I’m doing really well."
He said people are turning out locally to vote conservative in Ashfield, bucking the national trend.
He said: “It’s going to be very close, the people here identify with me for being local, and that is a factor”.
