    Carly Tomlinson, from Belper, has told Nottingham Crown Court she is not someone who drinks to excess and had previously had a clean driving licence.

    She said the biggest punishment for her is living with the "consequences of her actions".

    In a statement from her which was read in court, she said: "I'll never forgive myself.

    "Not a day goes by that I don't think about James and Ruby. If I had the chance I would put myself in their place."

    She continues to care for their other three-year-old daughter.

    Carly Tomlinson, of Nottingham Road, Belper is in court today for sentencing following a "catastrophic" crash that killed her fiance and six-year-old old daughter.

    Tomlinson pleaded guilty to death by careless driving, while unfit through drink at an earlier hearing.

    Today, prosecutors said CCTV shows Tomlinson had drunk two pints of lager and three vodka cokes before driving home in the early hours of 30 April last year.

    They described the crash as "catastrophic for her, and a large number of other people".

    Tomlinson's partner, James Watson, wasn't wearing a seat belt, and their daughter, Ruby Watson, wasn't properly secured to her booster seat when she crashed her Fiat Panda on Kilbourne Road.

    Tomlinson's defence lawyer said she was in hospital for two months in an induced coma and can't remember how the accident happened.

    In a statement the mother of James Watson, said: "I am so angry with what she has done to my family.

    "She needs to face the consequences."

    The owner of a Derby curry house falsely advertised his restaurant as having a five-star hygiene rating when its actual rating was zero.

    Derby City Council said Moza restaurant in Chaddesden had been given a one-star rating in February 2015, which was downgraded to zero five months later when no improvements were made.

    However, that year the restaurant took out three adverts in a local magazine claiming it had a five-star rating.

    The authority said the owner, who closed the restaurant down in September 2016, had been fined and disqualified from trading, external over the deception.

    A high-powered estate car that used to belong to Prince Harry has been sold by a Derbyshire-based dealership.

    Overton Prestige said the Audi RS6 Avent was purchased on Friday for the asking price of £71,900 by a buyer who wished to remain anonymous.

    Prince Harry was pictured driving the luxury motor to Pippa Middleton's evening wedding reception with Meghan last year.

    The dealership said the Audi, which was listed as having one owner and 4,464 miles on the clock, is due to be picked up later.

    Nottingham's tram operator says its Phoenix Park stop is currently out of action as nearby tracks are blocked by a crashed lorry, external.

    The crash, which involved a tram and a lorry, happened just before 10.00 and the tram driver has been taken to the QMC hospital with minor injuries.

    Poppies placed on lampposts around Stapleford to commemorate the end of The Great War have been destroyed.

    This poppy was removed from a post along Hickings Lane.

    Volunteers from Stapleford Remembers who put up the poppies last month said they had been pulled down and ripped up so they couldn't be used again.

    They called the vandals "mindless idiots" and said: "With each poppy being about 8ft high someone has really gone out the way to do this.

    "We don’t have the funds to replace them."

    Incident Commander Steve Wells from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue has shared this photo from this morning's fire near Swadlincote.

    He thanked firefighters who had tackled the blaze and added: "Some really hard work undertaken in difficult conditions."

    He also thanked the diner nearby that provided bacon sandwiches and coffee for officers after eight hours tackling the fire.

    The 26-year-old will replace Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz as overseas player for the last two group games this summer and any potential quarter-final fixture if the Falcons qualify.

    Nicholls has made 49 appearances for the Black Caps since making his debut in 2015, scoring 1,460 runs across all formats at an average of 33.

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and serious sexual assault, external after a woman was found critically injured in a play area in Leicester.

    The woman was taken to hospital after being discovered with very serious injuries in a small park in Cedar Road at about 04:45 on Friday. Police have not given an update on her condition.

    The 56-year-old suspect was arrested this morning and is currently in police custody. Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses.

  17. Petition urging Walkers to 'ditch the plastic'published at 10:22 British Summer Time 7 August 2018

    A petition urging crisp manufacturer Walkers to make their packets recyclable is due to be handed to the firm.

    More than 300,000 people have signed the petition calling for the Leicester-based company to "ditch the plastic" and be more "environmentally-friendly".

    Packets dating back to the 1980s have recently been found on UK beaches and Walkers has pledged for all its packaging to be 100% recyclable, compostable or biodegradable by 2025.

    About 11 million packets of crisps are produced at the Leicester factory each day and the inside of the bag is a plastic film which cannot be recycled.

    Geraint Ashcroft, the man who started the 38 Degrees petition, is set to meet senior executives from parent company PepsiCo and wants the firm to bring the date of when their packaging will be more recyclable forward.

    In a statement PepsiCo said: "We have a number of initiatives in place to reduce the amount of packaging we use and at the same time we're examining the use of different packaging materials, both plant and paper based."

    The fire near Swadlincote is at Ravensbourn Limited, a company which makes plastic crates for supermarkets.

    A spokeswoman for the firm said the fire was in an outside area which had been "completely gutted” but the factory and people who had been working inside at the time were "fine".

    She said: "The main thing is that nobody was injured. Stock can be replaced whereas people can’t.

    “The lucky thing is that at this time of the year we are at half capacity. Had it been at Christmas when the trays are returned we could have had up to 1.5m trays here and it would probably have been something we could see from space."

    She said they were hoping to be operational again by the end of the day.

    The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
