Paige Hart visited the Grill Town takeaway on Mansfield Road with her boyfriend after an evening out and asked for the sweetcorn delight along with their order of a kebab and chips.

"I was a little bit drunk and I just felt like having some corn on the cob," she said.

"I didn't think they sold it, but I asked, and the man said 'yes darling'. We didn't notice what it was until we got home."

"He must have the sweetcorn for the pizzas and thought we wanted it in the cob," added the 24-year-old.

"It must've been a bit of a language barrier thing, it was really funny!"

Sadly the corn IN the cob didn't get eaten.

    BBC News Online

The chairman of a staff union at De Montfort University has said the way decisions are made needs to be clearer.

The University and College Union (UCU) says it's been raising concerns for several years about changes to governing bodies at Leicester's DMU.

Martin Morgan-Taylor, an associate professor at DMU and UCU branch chair, said: "We’re not sure where the sector’s going to go, we’re not sure what’s going to be happening politically with student number caps, whether or not we’re going to see caps on fees or reductions in fees.

"We need to stay ahead of the game and we think staying ahead of the game involves greater staff involvement."

Yesterday the university announced its vice-chancellor Professor Dominic Shellard was stepping down after nine years and the Office for Students confirmed it is "looking into a number of regulatory matters relating to De Montfort University".
