    A teenager has been arrested after a man was attacked while queuing for a taxi.

    Nottinghamshire Police said the victim, who is in his 20s, was struck in the face, causing him to fall to the floor and hit his head, in Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, in the early hours of 27 July.

    The man is now deaf in one ear and suffers from vertigo as a result of the assault.

    The force said an 18-year-old man was detained this morning on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody.

    A 16-year-old boy has been arrested, external following two knifepoint muggings in Nottingham.

    Police said a man was ordered to hand over his phone in Leslie Road, Hyson Green, at about 22:00 BST on Tuesday.

    About four hours later another man was threatened for his phone and wallet in nearby Mount Hooton Road.

    Nottinghamshire Police said the teenager had been detained on suspicion of robbery in connection with both incidents.

    The force has also appealed for information along with CCTV and dashcam footage.

    Business owners have been encouraged to switch off all electrics when locking up after a fire at a dog food factory.

    Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Mansfield and Ashfield stations responded to an industrial fire in Dalestorth Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, at about 22:45 on Monday.

    An investigation found the cause of the blaze at the Frenchie Frenchie dog food bakery site was electrical.

    Arran Giles, who owns the business with his partner Liam, said: "We would just like to thank the firefighters, without them arriving as quickly as they did, we wouldn't have a business left.

    "We were alerted to the fire through cameras on our phone, and crews were at the scene within minutes."

    Fire service district manager Jonathan Wilson added: "If you are a business and you are leaving your premises, ensure all electricals are switched off and unplugged. A fire can easily start when electrical products are left unattended.

    "Our hearts go out to the business affected by this incident."

    A father who died in a crash in Heanor has been described by his partner as someone who "would do anything for anyone".

    James Hopkinson, 29, was killed when his BMW hit a wall in Heanor Gate Road on Saturday evening.

    His partner Kirsty Guilar said: "He worked non-stop but always made time for his family. We will miss him so much.

    "I’ve tried to explain to our little girl what has happened, but she just thinks the angels are going to bring her daddy back when he's better.

    "He always said he wanted to provide a good life for our daughter, and he did. We are absolutely devastated."

    Derbyshire Police have appealed for dashcam footage and witnesses to the crash, which happened at about 18:35.

    Two major 2021 Leicester sporting triumphs have been celebrated in a mural in the city.

    The artwork by GraffWerk - on the building of New Parks Club for Young People - marks Leicester City's FA Cup victory and the World Snooker Championship title, won by Leicester's Mark Selby for the fourth time this year.

    Mr Selby, who was a member of the New Parks club when he was younger, said he hoped the mural "will help inspire the next generation of Leicester sports stars".

    The art group thanked Nev Turner, from the club, for his support.

    The mural will be officially unveiled on 17 September with the help of Leicester City legend Alan Birchenall.

    A hedgehog had to be saved by an RSPCA inspector after becoming trapped in a badminton net in Derby.

    A family contacted the charity after discovering the stricken female in their garden in Spencer Street, Alvaston, on Friday.

    Scissors were used to free the hedgehog's head, body and legs from the net before she was given a clean bill of health by vets and released back into the wild.

    The RSPCA said the animal was fortunate not to have been suffocated as she tried to free herself and urged people to put sports netting away when not in use.

    Detectives trying to locate a man who has been missing for more than four months have made a fresh appeal for information, external.

    Huw Williams, 25, had moved to Nottingham from Chester but was last seen at a home he shared with a woman on 6 May.

    Nottinghamshire Police said a national appeal for information in July turned up several potential lines of inquiry but Mr Williams remained missing.

    Det Supt Nick Waldram said: "On our last media appeal, we had over 25 leads from members of the public but unfortunately none of those led to his location.

    "Each lead was followed up and investigated with other local forces but Huw's whereabouts are still unknown.

    "As you might imagine his family remain extremely concerned for his welfare and so we are continuing to urge anyone with any information about his whereabouts to come forward."
