A surge of Covid "pings" among employees meant Nottingham's tram network had to be temporarily suspended during the summer, it has been revealed.
Documents show tram operator Nottingham Express Transit (NET) struggled with a rise in staff being contacted through the government's test and trace app.
Absent employees reached a peak of 53, 30 of which were drivers, and at one point, 12 of the 23 control room staff were also asked to self-isolate.
Some staff were alerted during their shifts and had to go home immediately, with "limited opportunities" to find replacements at short notice.
There was a brief suspension of services on 9 July.
Nottingham City Council is set to hear about NET's performance and progress between June and July at a meeting due to be held on 14 September.
NET said in the report, prepared for the meeting, that "Covid-safe working practices introduced during the pandemic helped to mitigate against more severe disruptions" to the service.

The Tour of Britain cycle race is set to return to Nottinghamshire in 2022.
Nottinghamshire County Council said it had agreed in principle to operate a stage after discussions with organisers.
The county hosted a stage of the event in both 2017 and 2018.
County council officials said that in 2018, the stage attracted 250,000 spectators, making it the largest sporting event in Nottinghamshire's history.
They estimated about £3.9m was spent by participants and spectators in 2018 on accommodation, food and drink and shopping.
The eight-stage 2022 tour will start in Aberdeenshire and finish in the Isle of Wight.
The council's communities committee is set to meet on 15 September to give the event the green light.
Full details of a Nottinghamshire stage, including a route and timings, will likely be confirmed early next year.
Market Harborough's market has been held in the town since the 13th Century.

A hospital trust has paid tribute to one of its employees who died last week following a "tragic accident".
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust said Tina Leek, a healthcare assistant on Ward 303 at the Royal Derby Hospital, joined the team in 2014.
Trust chief executive Gavin Boyle said Ms Leek was "known by all as a bubbly, kind, hard-working colleague and a real character that was never stressed".
"Many of the team looked up to Tina within the department and for the team she will be irreplaceable," Mr Boyle said.
"Tina's close colleagues say she was a brilliant friend to so many and such a hard-working healthcare assistant."
He said Ms Leek, a grandmother, had chosen to support organ donation and her "wishes were respected with her organs going to help others".
