    A mother whose soldier son was left partly blind after an "initiation ceremony" has spoken out about his injuries. 

    Oliver Scudder says he was pressured into running along a corridor while colleagues kicked and punched him.

    He'd only been with his regiment in Rutland for nine days. 

    His mother Sharon Hall said joining the army was all he had ever dreamed of doing.

    A man's died after his van crashed off the road on the A17 near Sleaford yesterday afternoon.

    The 50-year-old was driving a white Ford Transit at around 15.15GMT when the incident happened.

    The road was shut until around 20.30. Police have appealed for witnesses to call them on the non-emergency number 101.

    Crowds have gathered at a North Lincolnshire wildlife reserve to watch a great display. 

    It's estimated 40,000 starlings roost in the reeds at Far Ings on the banks of the Humber. 

    Every evening they're creating extraordinary patterns in the sky called murmurations.

    Some shop owners are being asked to leave their businesses in Grantham because of an electrical fire. 

    It's understood to be on Welby Street and involves an underground power line.

    A Scunthorpe woman ended up on the floor trying to protect her bag an a struggle with a would-be-thief.

    The woman was with her nine-year-old son at a cash machine on Frodingham Road when a man attempted to rob her.

    He gave up and fled the scene when a passing motorist got out of his car to help.

    Police are keen to speak to the man in the car or anyone who may have seen the incident.

    As we told you earlier Lincolnshire Police has begun a new recruitment drive for regular officers but applicants must have lived in the county for at least a year.

    The force is still hunting internationally to find a replacement for the current chief constable when he retires next year.

    Thieves who targeted a hospice charity shop smashed a window before stealing a safe containing cash.

    The theft happened after 17:30GMT on Saturday at the St Barnabas shop on the High Street, Spilsby.

    Police in Louth want to hear from anyone with information.
