Independent traders in a part of Lincoln say they hope the appearance of a knight will attract more shoppers this Easter weekend. 

Market traders and shop owners on Sincil Street want to remind everyone they're still open for business despite extensive redevelopment of the area. 

One of the statues from the city's Knights of the Charter trail is on show this weekend.

Lincoln City striker Lee Angol faces a fitness test ahead of tomorrow's match against Torquay United at Sincil Bank. 

He injured his hamstring during the Imps' win against Chester on Tuesday night.

Tributes have been paid to a woman whose body is thought to have been found at a house in Lutton, near Spalding.

Bernice Williams had been missing since last month and police say they believe her body was found along with that of her husband Lawrence.

Karyn Wiles, headteacher of the Westmere Primary School, where Mrs Wililams worked, said: "We are all shocked and saddened by the news of Bernice’s death and our thoughts go out to her sons."

Four men and a 17-year-old youth have been handed three year football banning orders , externalfor their role in the violent disorder that followed Grimsby Town’s clash with Sheffield United in July last year.

Glasses, bottles and other items were thrown after a pre-season friendly between the two teams at Blundell Park.

Police are appealing for information over the death of a badger which appears to have been unlawfully killed in Lincolnshire. 

Officers say the dead animal was found in Colsterworth Road, Skillington, near Grantham, yesterday morning in "suspicious circumstances".

A spokesman said the animal had been injured, possibly with a spade.

"We are investigating as we believe this animal, which is a protected species, may have been baited."

Anyone with information should call 101.

Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Police want your help to find this man after a woman was attacked by two dogs on a cycle path in Lincoln - leaving her needing nine stitches in her head.

Officers say the victim was sitting on a bench with her dog when a group of five men walked towards her two black and white American-type bulldogs.

The bulldogs got free from their leads when they spotted the victim's dog and she moved to shield her pet but the attacking dogs bit down on her head.

Officers said three of the men helped the woman and called an ambulance while two ran from the scene. If you recognise the man in the picture, call police on 101.

Police say two bodies discovered at a house near Spalding were found two days apart after "extensive searches" were carried out.

Formal identification has yet to be carried out, but officers believe the two people are husband and wife Lawrence and Bernice Williams.

Mr Williams, 50, was found last Friday at the property in Colley's Gate, Lutton. His wife was discovered on Sunday by what a police spokesman called "specialist teams".  

Officers say it's believed Mr Williams took his own life while a cause of death has not yet been confirmed for Mrs Williams - who had been missing since March 25. 

Police are not looking for anyone else and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

Hoteliers in Skegness have welcomed a £4m investment which will improve the town's low water pressure. 

The current water pressure meets national guidelines but hoteliers have claimed the current supply doesn't allow their guests to have decent showers during busy periods. 

Anglian Water have now announced they'll be installing a 6km water pipe which will see 60 litres of water pumped though every second. 

Work is expected to start in the autumn.

News that Argos is to stay in Sleaford has been welcomed by traders in the town. 

It comes after thousands of people supported an online campaign to stop the store closing.

The company is currently based inside Homebase on Northgate - but has been forced to move after Homebase and Argos were sold to different owners.

Argos says it's made a deal to stay in the current premises temporarily - and the firm says it's now looking for a new location in Sleaford.

Union bosses have spoken out this morning after two firefighters were threatened with an imitation gun and then assaulted at the scene of a house fire in Spalding.

The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has condemned the attack, which happened on Monday on the town's Holyrood Walk.

The union says both firefighters received medical attention at the scene, with one being taken via ambulance to Pilgrim Hospital in Boston for facial injuries.

Ben Selby, secretary of the FBU in Lincolnshire, said: “Firefighters are there to keep the public safe, preserve life and perform rescues when people are in trouble. 

"The idea that someone could attack firefighters whilst they go about their lifesaving work is appalling."

It's understood an arrest has been made - Lincolnshire Police has yet to confirm this.
