Jealous Boston bathroom killer jailed for 23 yearspublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 10 April 2017
A man who murdered his estranged wife and tried to set fire to her flat has been jailed for life.
Gytis Griskevicius attacked his estranged wife Marina Erte on 20 May 2016.
During the trial the jury heard that Griskevicius 32, of St Anns Lane, Boston, attacked Ms Erte at her flat, inflicting a traumatic brain injury before drowning her using a shower attachment in the bathroom.
He then tried to set fire to the flat but the flames failed to spread.
Griskevicius had denied murdering the 33-year-old claiming she was "fine" when he left the flat.
The couple married in 2010 but had begun divorce proceedings in January 2016.
Marina Erte had begun a relationship with another man and the court heard that Griskevicius had become extremely jealous.
He was ordered to serve a minimum of 23 years by the Judge Michael Heath.
Judge Heath said the killer had shown no regret for his crimes:
Quote MessageI have detected not a shred of remorse in your body. You inflicted upon your wife a brutal assault. She suffered a traumatic brain injury. You weren't satisfied with that and you finished her off."
