  1. Jealous Boston bathroom killer jailed for 23 yearspublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 10 April 2017

    A man who murdered his estranged wife and tried to set fire to her flat has been jailed for life.

    Gytis Griskevicius attacked his estranged wife Marina Erte on 20 May 2016.

    During the trial the jury heard that Griskevicius 32, of St Anns Lane, Boston, attacked Ms Erte at her flat, inflicting a traumatic brain injury before drowning her using a shower attachment in the bathroom. 

    He then tried to set fire to the flat but the flames failed to spread.

    Griskevicius had denied murdering the 33-year-old claiming she was "fine" when he left the flat.

    The couple married in 2010 but had begun divorce proceedings in January 2016. 

    Marina Erte had begun a relationship with another man and the court heard that Griskevicius had become extremely jealous.  

    He was ordered to serve a minimum of 23 years by the Judge Michael Heath. 

    Judge Heath said the killer had shown no regret for his crimes:

    The Radio 1 Big Weekend will be held on May 27 and 28. All the tickets were snapped up very quickly this morning - so what's all the interest in the event?:

    • There will be three main stages at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Hull, with a Main Stage, Where it Begins tent and a BBC Introducing stage.
    • Katy Perry will be headlining on the Saturday, while Kings of Leon, Little Mix and Stormzy will perform on the Sunday.
    • The rest of the line-up hasn't been announced yet, but full details will be released on Wednesday 19 April .

    Police say they're investigating the death of a man and a woman at a house in the Lutton area of South Holland.

    The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained but police say they're not looking for anyone else in their investigation.

    A Lincoln College lecturer who used Facebook to send naked photos to a 13-year-old schoolgirl has been jailed for three years.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard how Shane Oakden, 45, of Wentworth Way, Lincoln knew the girl's age when he first contacted her but told her "age doesn't matter when you're having fun". He tried to get her to spend a night with him in a hotel but that didn't happen. 

    His actions were uncovered when the girl's mum grew suspicious and checked her phone. The girl then ran away sparking a police hunt, she's since had counselling. 

    Oakden admitted two charges of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and a further charge of inciting child exploitation.

    Lincoln city have been nominated for the FA's Giant Killing Award for their spectacular FA Cup run this season. 

    They became the first non-league side in over 100 years to reach the quarter finals, beating 4 sides higher up the footballing ladder along the way.

    All day free parking could be scrapped in some Lincolnshire market towns just a year after it was introduced. 

    East Lindsey District Council is considering a range of changes to parking, including bringing in charges after one or two hours at free carparks in Alford, Burgh le Marsh, Sandliands, Spilsby, Tattershall and Coningsby.

    Temporary traffic lights are back on Yarborough Road in Lincoln today. 

    They'll be there until Friday to allow for school building work between 09:00 and 15:00. 

    Meanwhile roadworks on Roman Bank, Skegness are being put on hold this week to reduce congestion.

    It's a busy time of year for the coastal town and the county council says its suspending them to ease travel for visitors, residents and businesses.

  17. Tour of the Wolds: Quarter of a million pound boost for local economy published at 09:07 British Summer Time 10 April 2017

    Not everyone is into their bikes but the Tour of the Wolds was a lot more than just a race. 

    Organisers estimate that the event netted the local economy £250,000 as thousands lined the route to watch and soak up the sunshine.
