  1. Nurses 'considering strike action over low pay'published at 10:41 British Summer Time 13 April 2017

    BBC Radio Humberside

A former nurse from North Lincolnshire wants the government to do more to look after nurses.

It comes as the Royal College of Nursing announce they're doing a survey to see if there is support for strike action

The union say nurses have had a real term cut to their pay of 14% since 2010 which they say is in part responsible for tens of thousands of unfilled nursing posts.

Former nurse James Derby from Barton told Radio Humberside he doesn't think there should be a strike but can understand why some feel they should, and the current situation is down to the central government.

The Department for Health say as is usual, the government accepted independent recommendations about this year's pay decision.

They say there are an extra 12,100 nurses on our wards since 2010.

  2. Staff on Virgin Trains to stage strikepublished at 10:14 British Summer Time 13 April 2017

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Staff on Virgin Trains East Coast are to stage a 48-hour strike in a row over the role of guards and jobs, the RMT union has announced.

The stoppage, on 28 and 29 April, follows recent strikes by three other train operators in rows over staffing.

    Virgin Trains

The union said it wanted "explicit clarification" from Virgin on the future role of guards.

Virgin, which operates services between London and Scotland via Lincolnshire, has yet to comment.

  3. Concern as flytipping rate rockets in Lincolnpublished at 09:46 British Summer Time 13 April 2017

    Katie O'Halloran
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

There's been a dramatic increase in the amount of fly-tipping in Lincoln.

In the year up to April there were 757 reports - compared with 456 for the same period last year.

In some other parts of the county fly-tipping figures have fallen.

The City of Lincoln Council says it's concerned about the rise, but adds there's no evidence it's to do with the closure of a tip at Whisby on the outskirts of the city last year.

  4. Bird flu restrictions relaxedpublished at 09:19 British Summer Time 13 April 2017

    Martin Slack

Poultry farmers in Lincolnshire will no longer need to keep their flocks indoors. A ban on keeping birds outside is being lifted from today

It means free range egg producers who put their birds outside can remove stickers from boxes. DEFRA says if egg producers continue to keep the birds indoors they cannot label their eggs as free-range.
