    A Lincolnshire police officer's apologised to the Chief Constable for drinking and driving.

    PC Rebecca Stevenson told a hearing she was appalled by her own behaviour.

    She was off-duty when she crashed a vehicle into a dyke while driving with double the permitted amount of alcohol in her system.

    The 33-year-old from Louth has been dismissed from the force.

    The county council has responded to concerns about the safety of a planned overtaking lane on the A17.

    Local councillors think the road would be dangerous and lead to collisions on the middle lane.

    But county councillor Richard Davies, the man in charge of the region's highways, says this is not the case:

    This afternoon's regular press conference has been moved to tomorrow so that suggests the manager is prioritising getting some deals over the line.

    Some traffic information for people on their way to Burghley Horse Trials now.

    The traffic lights on the bridge over the River Welland, A43, in central Stamford have been rephased and this is causing traffic delays, particularly for those travelling south.

    It's being recommending that local traffic takes alternative routes where possible to avoid the bridge.

    It's the first day of the Burghley Horse Trials, external.

    The four-day event is one of the top Eventing competitions in the world, attracting top international riders.

    More than 150,000 visitors are expected to come to Burghley House near Stamford.

    Hotels are full in Stamford this weekend, as the annual influx begins.

    Some of the world's top three-day-eventers are here - including three members of Team GB's gold medal winning team from the European Championship Eventing - Nicola Wilson, Tina Cook and Oliver Townend.

    There's a top prize of £90,000 for this year's winner.

    But not everyone comes for the horses, shopping is also a major attraction - hundreds of shops, trade stands and food stalls have been set up - a lot of money will be spent over the next four days.

    Meet the surprise new arrivals at Natureland Seal Sanctuary, external in Skegness.

    These two baby tortoises were spotted by a stunned member of staff in the reptile room.

    It's been 15 years since a tortoise was born at the sanctuary - because their male was stolen, but they do get donations of new tortoises.

    They're thinking of naming them Sheldon and Amy - after the popular characters on the US TV show the Big Bang Theory.

    There's been a rise in the number of patients who've died or been seriously harmed while being treated by the East Midlands Ambulance Service, external (EMAS).

    They include call-outs which resulted in the unexpected or avoidable death of a patient.

    Five years ago EMAS recorded five of the most serious incidents.

    But the latest figures show that number had risen to 27.

    They included calls where the ambulance crews misread the symptoms of illnesses like sepsis and heart failure or where defibrillation equipment failed.

    In 2013 a man died after the ambulance crew lost the keys to their vehicle.

    The service says it's down to an increased workload and only represents a fraction of the cases they deal with.

    North East Lincolnshire Council has voted in favour of introducing fortnightly bin collections.

    It's believed the changes will save the council around four hundred thousand pounds.

    People against the plans have said they're furious, with some saying they've lost confidence in the council.

    You may remember that last week Grimsby Town fans alleged that female spectators were asked to show their bras to stewards during security searches at Stevenage.

    Well now some Lincoln City fans say they too have been subjected to inappropriate searches - when they faced Mansfield away last night.

    A man has died after an accident on the A52 near Grantham.

    It happened on Monday at 17:30 in Haceby and involved a motorbike and a car. A woman in her 40's was injured in the collision.

    A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a road traffic collision.

    The police are appealing for witnesses.

    Plans for a new Go Ape activity centre in North Lincolnshire have been given the go ahead.

    Go Ape will be built at Normanby Hall.

    The tree top adventure course, with zip wires and rope swings,could create around 30 jobs at Normanby Hall Country Park next year.

    More now on the news that more than half of deaths in Lincolnshire aren't being registered within the five-day target.

    Lincolnshire County Council say a number of factors can delay registering a death - including some offices operating part-time.

    The General Register Office says it's working with councils to reduce delays by improving links between organisations like the coroner's offices and GPs.

  19. Protests outside North East Lincolnshire Council over refuse collectionspublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 30 August 2017

    A protest has begun outside the North East Lincolnshire Council offices in Grimsby over planned cuts to bin and library services.

    The council wants to replace the weekly service with fortnightly refuse collections, to try and save more than £400,000.

    A decision on the future of collection services will be made later today.
