They named them Dennis and Donald, the latter being named after US President Donald Trump because of his blonde hair.

  11. Fixed odds betting machines took £13.5m in Lincolnshire last yearpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC reporter, Lincolnshire

Figures show that just 325 machines in the county took millions of pounds from punters last year with the machines making over £90m since 2008.

Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBTs) simulate games like roulette or blackjack and allow gamblers to bet £100 every 20 seconds.

    FOBT

The group Campaign for Fairer Gambling want the maximum stake bringing down to £2 saying the machines are posing a real problem for addicted gamblers.

Matt Zarb-Cousin is from the organisation and used to be addicted to FOBTs.

Mr Zarb-Cousin said the machines raise an issue that needs addressing:

    Quote Message

I got addicted aged 16 and over a period of about four years I lost about £20,000 and came close to taking my own life. Some 43% of fixed-odds gamblers are addicted or classed as at-risk so it suggests there's a big problem with this product"

Matt Zarb-Cousin, Campaign for Fairer Gambling

Last year a cross-party group of MPs urged the government to drop the maximum stake.

A review of the proposal is due in October.
