    Alex Rhodes
    BBC reporter, Lincolnshire

The majority of deaths in Lincolnshire aren't being registered within the legal five day time limit.

Figures obtained by the BBC show that it's dropped from 68% to 46% in the last five years.

Nationally the number of delayed notifications has been growing as well.

The delays mean that some families are having to wait longer to arrange funerals.

  2. Drink-drive officer sacked from Lincolnshire forcepublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 30 August 2017

    Jake Zuckerman
    Journalist, BBC Look North

A Lincolnshire Police officer has been dismissed from the force after crashing her car into a dyke in Saltfleetby while drunk and off-duty.

PC Rebecca Stevenson, 33, who was based in Louth, was over two times the legal alcohol limit when she lost control of her vehicle on the way to a caravan site on the Lincolnshire coast.

A misconduct hearing at Lincolnshire Police headquarters in Nettleham heard that she was found "staggering" in the street wearing only her dressing gown in the early hours of 2 July.

Stevenson, who'd worked as an officer for almost 12 years, told the hearing she was "genuinely appalled" by her behaviour but promised it was an "isolated incident" which would never happen again.

But Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable Bill Skelly said she couldn't remain on the force:

    Quote Message

I cannot find what you did consistent with your role as a warranted officer. Both yourself and members of the public were at serious risk of suffering life changing harm or death"

Bill Skelly, Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable

Stevenson had pleaded guilty to drink driving when she appeared before Nottingham Magistrates on 18 July.

She was banned from driving for 17 months and given a £500 fine.

  19. Steampunk festival 'not getting enough council support'published at 17:30 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC reporter, Lincolnshire

More now on the Lincoln Steampunk Festival held over the bank holiday weekend.

It's thought to be the biggest event of its kind and is understood to generate up to £2.5m for the local economy, but organisers say that the City of Lincoln Council could do more to help them out.

    Steampunk
    steampunk

Director John Naylor says it is in danger of becoming a victim of its own success:

    Quote Message

It's getting too big in many ways, we don't get any public funding or anything to do it. The majority of the festival is paid for by the event wristbands and we have to spend a lot of money on first aid and ambulances just for members of the public who have come to watch"

    John Naylor, Director, Steampunk Festival

The City of Lincoln Council says it's surprised to hear the criticism, as they've never been asked for more funding or support.
