  1. Neighbour tells of Lincoln house raided in mustard gas investigationpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

    As we told you earlier, police carried out a raid on a property in Lincoln last night in connection with the ongoing mustard gas investigation.

    Numerous vans and officers attended the property on Longdales Road.

    Neighbour Jen Machalski says she couldn't believe what she was seeing:

    There were enormous number of police there and loads of vans, lights on in the house, spotlights in the garden... Officers were wearing gas masks and what appeared to be bullet proof vests. I thought what on earth is going on?

    Police say no noxious substances were discovered during the search.

    Meanwhile a third person has been arrested in connection.

    A man from Woodhall Spa is now in custody along with a man and a woman from Lincoln

    The A1121 Boardsides has been reopened in both directions after an accident there earlier this morning involving a car and a lorry.

    Meanwhile the A1 is returning to normal after a big traffic build-up between North Muskham and Tuxford because of an earlier crash.

    Another person has been arrested in connection with the discovery of mustard gas canisters near Woodhall Spa at the weekend.

    Lincolnshire Police say the arrested man is from Woodhall Spa and specialist teams will search a property in the village later today.

    The A1 has reopened northbound between North Muskham and Tuxford after a serious crash shut the stretch all morning.

    Traffic is still slow there, so drivers are being asked to try and avoid the area for the time being.

    More now on Great Limber where villagers are calling for a reduction in the 40mph speed limit to 30mph.

    Lincolnshire County Council says a review is taking place though there have been no accidents there in the past:

    Hundreds of people will lose their jobs at the Cummins Inc factory on Barnack Road in Stamford after the company announced it is closing the site in the next 12 months.

    The company, which makes generators, employs 500 people at the factory but says it will advertise 150 roles at a "centre of excellence" at its Ryhall Road facility.

    In a statement Cummins said the Barnack Road site was no longer competitive:

  7. Schools save cash with eye on futurepublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

    New figures show that primary schools in Lincolnshire saved £14m from their budgets in the last financial year.

    Just under a quarter of the 200 council-controlled primaries saved sums of between £100,000 and £400,000, according to a report from the county council.

    Unions argue that schools are saving money because they're worried their budgets will be cut in the future.

    Just a quick reminder about the road closures in the county this morning.

    Drivers are facing delays of more than an hour on a stretch of the A1.

    The road is shut northbound between North Muskham and Tuxford because of a serious accident.

    Meanwhile in Boston the A1121 is still closed at the junction at Hubberts Bridge.

    The emergency services are still on the scene of a crash between a lorry and a car.

  11. Residents call for A18 speed limit reductionpublished at 09:33 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

    People living in a village on the A18 near Humberside Airport are campaigning for the speed limit to be reduced.

    Great Limber currently has a 40 mph limit but residents say it should be reduced to 30 mph.

    They say people are driving cars and lorries too fast through the village and a reduction is needed to cut the number of accidents.

    Lincolnshire County Council says it is reviewing the speed limit but there isn't a history of speed-related accidents in the area.

    Police are investigating the death of a 29-year-old inmate at Lincoln prison.

    He was taken to hospital on 11 September and died on 25 September.

    A 41-year-old prisoner has been interviewed in connection with the death.

    There are long delays on the A1 Northbound between the B6325 Muskham turnoff and the A57 Cliff Gate.

    It's after a crash between Tuxford and Markham Moor, because of the weight of traffic the closure was extended back to North Muskham.

    If you're stuck in the build-up you may be in for quite a wait, the road is expected to remain shut for most of the morning.

    A large-scale police operation has been continuing at Roughton Moor Wood, near Woodhall Spa, today as officers deal with the discovery of canisters of mustard gas.

    Yesterday, police used a new drone to ensure the area was secure. Now they're using one of the Lincolnshire force's new all-terrain vehicles:
