  4. Open verdict on death of 'missing' womanpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 3 October 2017

    Jake Zuckerman
    Journalist, BBC Look North

An open verdict has been recorded at the inquest into the death of a Lincolnshire woman - though police say her husband would have faced criminal charges had he not killed himself.

The body of Kanwal Bernice William was found in April this year in Lutton near Spalding covered in carpet in the family home.

Her husband, Lawrence William, had reported her missing but the inquest heard that he knew where she was and had lied to family and friends about her whereabouts.

A pathologist was unable to determine how exactly Kanwal died.

The coroner in Boston concluded that Lawrence William later committed suicide before both their bodies were discovered. He had been arrested twice for drinking and driving in the week prior.

  5. Walk in-centre closure 'questionable' says Lincoln MPpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 3 October 2017

    Melvyn Prior
    Presenter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Lincoln's MP says it's "questionable" that the city's NHS walk-in centre will close.

This comes despite health managers saying the centre on Monks Road will shut its doors after the winter.

    Karen Lee

Speaking to me today, Labour's Karen Lee said a closure would face stiff protests from locals:

    Quote Message

Given there was a consultation and 94% of people said they didn't want it to close I think it's questionable that it will close. People will start to ask if they were listened to.

Karen Lee, Member of Parliament for Lincoln

NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group says the walk-in centre duplicates services that can be found elsewhere.

It's hoped the remains of a Canadian airman may be recovered as the work goes on.

Major Bart Alberts is the salvage officer from the Royal Dutch Airforce:

    Quote Message

We know he was Canadian and a tailgunner. The rest of the crew managed to escape, they were not clear about his whereabouts on the last part of the flight. So we don't know for sure if he was in the plane when it went down"

Major Bart Alberts, Royal Dutch Airforce

As we told you earlier a Lancaster from RAF Coningsby will be flying over the site today at 15:00 our time.

  10. Long wait for bulky waste collection in North East Linconshirepublished at 10:19 British Summer Time 3 October 2017

    BBC Radio Humberside

There's a long wait to have bulky items taken away by the council if you live in North East Lincolnshire.

It's not a council's responsibility to provide a service to remove big items but most do and they normally do so at a cheaper rate than commercial operators.

    Quote Message

There can be a wait of a few weeks for bulky waste collections. If people want bulky waste collected sooner, they can try a licensed private waste carrier."

Planning permission has been granted for the building, which will house Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and East Midlands Ambulance Service.

It's a major part of the so called "blue light" project, which would also see police and the fire service sharing a control room.

The existing fire station on South Park Avenue would be demolished to make way for the new building, and it's expected that the police station on West Parade in Lincoln will close once the work is completed in March 2019.
