    A man's been arrested after armed police descended on People's Park in Grimsby late last night.

    The 23-year-old-man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of a knife and robbery.

    Armed officers attended to ensure the safety of everyone in the area, according to Humberside Police.

    They were also supported by the police helicopter.

    Memorials dedicated to airmen in World War One and World War Two have been given heritage protection.

    Some 14 war memorials have been newly listed or had their protected status upgraded to mark the centenary of the Royal Air Force.

    The memorials include the one at RAF Wickenby in Lincolnshire (pictured) which commemorates the lost aircrew of 12 and 626 Squadrons.

    A Lincolnshire council has decided to write off £130,000 worth of debt it is owed.

    South Holland Council, which is based in Spalding, says almost a quarter of the debts are uncollected business rates.

    Plans for nearly 200 homes in a North East Lincolnshire village could get the go ahead later.

    Cyden Homes wants to build the development at Waltham, near Grimsby, and it looks like planners could today approve it, but with conditions attached.

    Some people living in the village aren't happy and have said the area doesn't have the infrastructure to cope with more homes.

    A meeting is being held today for Imps supporters to talk about issues they may be facing.

    East Lindsey District Council has tweeted following numerous incidents where a substance has washed up on beaches along the Lincolnshire coast.

    The tests have come back on the substance and it has been identified as petroleum wax.

    The advice remains the same, do not remove or touch the substance and please report it.

    Patients in North Lincolnshire are being reassured that they will still be taken to and from hospital after Thames Ambulance service was stripped of its contract.

    Health bosses say the firm will continue to operate for the next year while a new company is found.

    The move to cancel the contract came after months of criticism of Thames Ambulance Service, with patients raising concerns about frequent delays or ambulances not arriving at all.

    The company says it's disappointed with the decision and says improvements were being made.

    The University of Lincoln has been ranked 23rd in the UK in a survey of students’ opinions about their experience at university.

    The survey, carried out by YouthSight, asked for the opinions of more than 20,000 undergraduates on topics including academic experience, student welfare and university facilities.

    Hull's Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) says it will continue to work closely with Thames Ambulance to ensure the non-emergency patient transport service meets the needs of patients in the city.

    The CCG adds "there are no current plans to make changes to this contract, and patients should continue to book their transport in their usual way".

    It comes after TASL was told last night that North Lincolnshire would be cancelling its services.

    The Cleethorpes MP Martin Vickers has also called for the North East Lincolnshire to part ways with the company.

    A lovely story of kindness to cheer you up on a grey and wet Tuesday afternoon.

    Thanks to an appeal, Lincolnshire hospitals have been inundated with old ties which are being upcycled by hospital volunteers and turned into little purses.

    They're then being used to hold jewellery belonging to patients who've died in hospital - so relatives can take them away in a keepsake, rather than a hospital bag or brown envelope

    Plans to bring empty homes back into use in Lincoln over the next 4 years have been agreed by councillors.

    The Isaac Newton Building at the University of Lincoln has been shortlisted for RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) East Midlands 2018 awards.

    The building incorporates new facilities for the School of Engineering, an expanded School of Computer Sciences and the new School of Maths and Physics including engineering and robotics workshops, research and teaching laboratories, computer suites, offices, catering facilities and a 500-seat lecture theatre.

    It's amoung 15 to be shortlisted.

    All the buildings will be assessed by a regional jury with the winner being announced at the awards evening in May.
