  2. Winterton crash: Driver jailed for five yearspublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    A man has been jailed for five years for causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving.

    Daniel Whitehand, of Avenue Nozay, Broughton near Brigg was driving a car in November 2016 which was carrying three passengers.

    Driving at excessive speed between Broughton and Barton upon Humber, he lost control of the vehicle leading to the death of 17 year old Paige Collier and causing serious injury to her lifelong best friend Jasmine Codling.

    Non-league Gainsborough Trinity had two long-standing records to speak of prior to Saturday's National League North visit to Telford.

    In the 145 years since they were first formed in 1873, they had never been promoted and never been relegated.

    The Lincolnshire side spent two decades as a Football League club early in their existence, only to suffer the fate of not being re-elected when they finished bottom of Division Two in 1912.

    Apart from that, they have only ever moved divisions as a result of league restructuring.

    Health bosses say they want to hear from patients who use hospital transport in North Lincolnshire.

    Last month, the NHS North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) announced it would end its contract with the private firm, Thames Ambulance Service Limited (TASL).

    Concerns had been raised about the performance of the company who transport non-urgent patients to and from hospital.

    You have until Tuesday 8 May to let the CCG know what you think about hospital transport.

    After being relegated at the weekend Gainsborough Trinity's chairman says they just found it too difficult to compete financially.

    The Blues dropped out of the National League North at the weekend following their 3-2 defeat at Telford.

    Chairman Richard Kane says he is "absolutely gutted for the club" but they were just priced out of the league "to compete with full time clubs on massive weekly budgets is an issue.

    "Gainsborough Trinity operate on a sustainable amount."

    British Transport Police (BTP) officers have renewed their appeal to find a man they believe caused major damage to a train in Cleethorpes earlier this year:

    About £100,000 worth of damage was caused at the town's railway station on Tuesday 9 January.

    BTP believe this incident may be linked to two others:

    • Track damage at Cleethorpes station on Wednesday 27 December 2017
    • £10,000 worth of damage at Victoria Station's Stagecoach depot on Tuesday 9 January

    Anyone with information about any of the incidents is being asked to contact police.

  11. Farmer Craig finishes marathon, but doesn't break recordpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Yesterday was the hottest London Marathon on record and our Lincolnshire runners were out representing the county.

    Entrants included farmer Craig Williamson from Gainsborough - who ran dressed as a tractor!

    He was running to raise money for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.

    Why a tractor? Well Craig was trying to break the Guinness World Record for the quickest time running the London Marathon dressed as a heavy goods vehicle.

    Sadly he didn't manage to break the record - of four hours 55 minutes - but he did finish in about seven hours!

  12. Driver, 73, beaten by Grimsby car-jack gangpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    A 73-year-old man has been attacked and had his car stolen by three men in Grimsby.

    He was parked outside a takeaway on Sutcliffe Avenue at around 19:00 on 21 April 2018 when three men approached his vehicle.

    One got in the passenger side while another opened the driver’s door.

    One attacker assaulted the victim before pulling him out of the car then jumping in and driving off.

    The third suspect ran off.

    The victim suffered injuries to his face.

    Police are appealing for help in identifying this man after a pub near Market Rasen was burgled earlier this month:

    The King's Head in Tealby was broken into in the early hours of Friday 13 April and about £100 was stolen.

    The police have CCTV footage of a man they are looking for.

    Anyone with information should contact the police.

  14. £100,000 worth of damage at Cleethorpes railway stationpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Around £100,000 worth of damage was caused to Cleethorpes railway station after a man entered the station and smashed windows.

    British Transport Police (BTP) is renewing its appeal and wants to speak to anyone that saw what happened at the station on Tuesday 9 January 2018.

    The man was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a dark coloured coat with his hood up.

    At around 1.20am, a man of the same description arrived at the Stagecoach depot at Victoria station and smashed windows with a tool.

    The estimated damage to the depot was £10,000.

    BTP believe this may also be linked to previous railway offences that took place at Cleethorpes station on Wednesday 27 December 2017 where two men went onto the tracks pressing the stop plungers and causing severe delays to Trans Pennine Express trains.

    A man's been threatened with a knife in Boston.

    It happened in Wide Bargate on Friday 13 April at around 17:30.

    The attacker threatened a man in his 50s but the victim was not injured.

    Police think the threat is linked to a separate attack in West Street earlier this month.

  16. Snow clearing cost council hundreds of thousands of poundspublished at 10:35 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    The cost to keep Lincolnshire's roads clear of snow when the so-called "Beast from the East" hit has run in to hundreds of thousands of pounds, it's emerged.

    More than £200,000 worth of salt was spread over the county's roads during the cold snap, according to Lincolnshire County Council.

    It also revealed the authority paid farmers more than £100,000 to clear roads of snow.
